Always like to see this landmark when I return to Winona after spending half a year in the south for the winter. Also gives me a warm feeling as I look at it when I am walking on the lake bike path.

It's always fun to hike to the Sugarloaf in Winona, Minnesota. This year, the Parks Dept. opened a new trail on the north side of the bluff. It's a more gradual climb and makes for a very nice hour long hike. The old trail on...More

My family finally decided to do Sugarloaf. If you are unsure how to find it, go to the little antique store right off HWY 43 and Sugarloaf Road. The store is called Treasures Under Sugarloaf. Stop in and have a look around there. It's a...More

I think Sugar Loaf is one of the more photographed places in Winona. I was told it's not a easy place to climb up to, especially if you're not fit! I was also told, there are snakes around that area!

Finally got around to actually climbing up to Sugarloaf. You drive around behind it on Lake BLvd and then Sugarloaf road, and park next to a brick utility building. There's a no trespassing sign, but that's for the house next door. You climb a concrete...More

When driving north on Hwy 61, you will know you have arrived in Winona when you see the city’s most iconic landmark, Sugar Loaf (illuminated at night), a majestic, limestone pinnacle that tops a 400-500 ft-tall bluff. The pinnacle overlooks the city and rises more...More

I work on the American Queen steamboat and we stopped in Winona today so I took a crew bicycle and made my way across the beautiful town and lake to arrive at the little brown maintenance building on the backside of Sugar Loaf. Around the...More

From way out of town you suddenly see this oddly-shaped lump of rock sticking out above the trees on the bluff above the town. It's a real local landmark - well worth a photo or two.
