We have done this trip before. Though there is adequate parking, coming early does help. The buses run back and forth from Osceola to the park often, so people and their parking spaces open up all the time. Just remember this is also a well traveled area by those that have their own canoes and kayaks taking up those parking spaces. The day park pass is easy to get at the main building as you enter the area. There are many sandy areas to pull up to and take a rest along the way. Watch for shallow areas if you are unfamiliar with this run of river. The map from the park is helpful. If you get to Osceola early in the day. It is worth the careful walk over the bridge to the Watershed Cafe for an appetizer or cold drink. Booking online is easy, and the staff very friendly. Follow the canoe signs once you enter the park off of HWY 8. The little building by the river is your check in location. If you order a canoe, ask for a cushion. Those 7 miles sitting on a piece of tin, might add up.

Loved that we had some flexibility in our arrival time..it made for a great start to our day! We easily were signed in (we had purchased on line the night before which I highly recommend for easy check in and a $10/kayak savings). The scenery was beautiful with lots of places to stop for a break or lunch. The employees at the end of the trip handled our kayaks so made it super easy! Our tip was much appreciated :)

Always a great experience kayaking or canoeing down the St Croix when renting from Taylors Falls Canoe and Kayak Rental. Truly a classic Minnesota experience during the summer. Easy 2-3 hour paddle/float to Osceola Landing with plenty of spots along the shore to pull up and relax and have a bite or drink. Easy on-line reservation system. One way rentals with parking at Interstate Park and riding the shuttle back from Osceola Landing. We were wary of doing this during Covid and brought 2 cars leaving one at Osceola Landing and the other at Interstate Park. Beware there is limited parking for cars at Osceola Landing. Lots of spaces available for vehicles with boat trailers which sadly resulted in an unpleasant $80 parking ticket.

Sorry about the parking ticket! That's not a fun way to end your visit. Glad you enjoyed your experience otherwise. Happy to say that all of our shuttles are fully running now and you hopefully will be comfortable on our shuttles. Thank you!

Absolutely terrible service. I called on a Tuesday prior to my rental time, specifically for 1 canoe/2 nights from July 3rd-July 5th. They charged me for 2 canoes/1 night and was overcharged. When I had gotten there that Friday they attempted to give me 2 canoes when I had to state again that I only wanted 1 canoe and had said that on the phone. They then said I had been overcharged by $26-$36, and said they would refund me that. Looked at my email and they had only refunded me $5.37. Absolutely terrible. It’s a beautiful site, but I suggest bringing your own kayak/canoe and not spending a dime there.

Jessica, I'm sorry for the confusion and that things did not go as planned. I'm glad you enjoyed your trip and apologize again that there was a confusion on the rates you were charged.

My friends and I opted for the longer trip but it really was too long for most of us especially on a 90 degree day and little breeze. It took us about 5 1/2 - 6 hours with 2 breaks for swimming and lunch. We were a group of 10 including 8 adults ages 20-65 and 2 teenagers. The river is generally tame and suitable for very young riders , teenage paddlers and myself, a 65 year old. Great way to spend the day with lots of opportunities to stop along the way, swim, rest, chat, lunch. I highly recommend it for the experience and the novice paddler.

This service was very easy to use. We were in our kayaks within 5 minutes after parking. Paddling leisurely and stopping at sand bars twice, we were on the water for about 5 hours. The shuttle that picked our group up at Osceola was mostly empty. I had been skeptical about being on a full bus because of coronavirus, but they did a great job of running shuttles frequently enough to avoid that.

We kayaked from Taylors Falls on the second day of our trip to Stillwater. This was on a Tuesday in August 2020. It was the perfect COVID-safe activity. I was traveling with my two teenage daughters. We had an easy float down the river. The pick up location and process was really easy and the price was totally affordable. Even their cancellation policy was generous as we ended up booking a separate kayak trip the day before this one and I wasn't sure we'd want to do two trips. In the end I'm glad we stuck with our plan. Highly recommend.

Once in the river, the trip was beautiful; however, we saw no COVID-19 cleaning or protection measures, and there was no room for distancing from other groups on the shuttle. Neither the staff that helped you get your equipment nor the shuttle driver wore masks and no effort was made to facilitate distancing on the shuttle. The vast majority of people on the shuttle did not wear masks.

I am glad that you enjoyed your trip down the river. We have been sanitizing the buses and vans after every shuttle. This is done after the guests get off the shuttle before the next guests arrive. We have not been requiring our guests to wear a mask, that has been left up to each guest. We are running continuous shuttles as we do not want our buses or vans to be jammed full. We are also offering the Covid-19 non shuttle option for those that feel uncomfortable being on our shuttle they can choose the non shuttle option. I recommend if you choose to come back this year and enjoy the St Croix River the non shuttle option maybe the best for you as we are finding that only about 15 - 20% of our guests are choosing to wear masks on the shuttle.

This was a great activity even on a hot day. The scenery is so beautiful, and you can take the trip as fast as you want. There are lots of places to stop and rest and take a swim. The only negative is that I wished people would have brought masks to wear on the shuttle ride back. We were one of only 2 or 3 groups that wore masks on the shuttle.
