This was our first time on the boat in Taylors Falls and we’ve talked about doing this for years. I’m so glad we did. My husband, our tween son & I took the afternoon ride on the Princess. Stepping on the boat the crew was so welcoming. We got there close to the boat launch and the upstairs chairs were all full so we sat inside. I don’t think there’s a bad seat on the boat even inside we had a great view with a welcomed breeze from the hot weather. Right off the bat the rocky cliffs were memorizing! Such a beautiful area to see from the view on the water. The crew “tour guide” did such a great job of filling us in on the history of the boat, the area, the waterway and how Taylor’s Falls got its name. They talked enough to educate you but also gave plenty of quiet time to enjoy the views on our 80 minute tour. Our son who doesn’t care for boats said he “really liked it and the views were amazing!” If you’re interested they do have snacks & beverages available for purchase for a reasonable price. This tour will be amazing to go on to see the fall colors and we hope to be back for that someday.

I've been on a few boat tours & this is one of the top best. Very good knowledgeable people throughout. Especially the way the driver can manipulate that big boat with the strong current & narrow river points. I ordered tickets online & everything went off without a hitch. I Especially liked that they allowed my support animal without question!! Highly recommended.

My friend and I arrived about a half an hour before departure for the 80 minute daily excursion. The parking lot is very convenient for getting on the boat and it’s helpful to not have to try to find a place to park in town. The employees were all very knowledgable and they sanitized the entire boat after the previous tour got back and before we got on. It was a very calm and pleasant boat ride. I’d recommend being more in the front as the paddle can make it kind of hard to hear the tour commentary. The only thing I was slightly disappointed in was I thought there was going to be more commentary (I love history) along the way but it was nice to just take in the views too. Would love to come back for a dinner cruise some day!

The boat ride is a relaxing way to soak in the beauty of the St Croix River. We took the ride on the first weekend in May, when the Taylor Falls Scenic Boat Tours had commenced for the season. The weather was beautiful and it made our breezy ride along the peaceful river all the more enjoyable. There were a number of people on the St Croix river enjoying a sunny spring day. There are seating options on the upper and lower decks of the boat. The boat ride was accompanied by a commentary which was informative and funny! In fact, during the course of the trip, their microphone malfunctioned and in a few minutes, someone from the company came by in a few minutes in a boat and handed a new microphone to the crew manning our boat - that episode speaks to the dedication of the company in making the ride enjoyable for everyone on board. Beer, wine, pop and chips are available for purchase in the snack shop on the boat. The passengers are free to move around during the trip and thus, there are plenty of opportunities to take some excellent photos. During the entire trip duration of around 90 minutes, the boat travelled at a gentle pace and thus, it will be comfortable ride for people of all ages.

Our overall experience was a very pleasant one but, the narration provided was disappointing. Although many interesting details were provided, it was clear that the narrator was reading a pre-prepared script. This was distracting and, at time, hard to listen to. Details regarding rock formations were glossed over in rapid fashion and this left passengers unsure what they were seeing. Comedic lines were inserted in a monotone fashion and detracted from the enjoyment. The scenery was beautiful, on board staff was very polite, and the boat was clean and comfortable. The trip home was made more uncomfortable when we tried to use the restrooms prior to departure and, though there were patrons still inside and using the facilities, we were denied access because “we are closing”. Would recommend , but suggest changing the was narration is presented.

When your brain needs a roto-rooter to clean out the cobwebs, here's the perfect trip for you. Being on the water is always calming and this trip takes it to the nth degree. Nice boat, good staff, wonderful scenery. Only wish list I would have would be to see if there could be a trip that goes further upstream to get to view some of the other cliff areas.

The crew's commentary on the trip enhanced the experience. You got an historical view of the parts of the river still in existence. We also got the chance to see both bald eagles and vultures soaring on the thermals above the valley.

All in all, a good experience.

Cousins highly recommended this excursion. Was notified two days before to say that the water level is low and that the trip is shortened. I had already paid for an 80 minute trip but was told due to the water level the trip will be shortened to 45 minutes. No discount was given. Wouldn’t recommend this excursion to anyone! What a rip off!

I wish you would have called us as you were automatically refunded back on your credit card the difference between the 45 minute and the 80 minute trip when we rescheduled you. In addition you received an email letting you know that you could reschedule or receive a full refund if you did not want to do the 45 minute trip. We don't like it when the river is too low to do an 80 minute trip as well, but it is out of our hands. We are sorry that you were unhappy with the situation.

Actually it's a 10 star for us: part of our party didn't make it on time for the 3pm departure due to car problems then the local traffic but you very graciously as long as you can then put them onto the next departure accepting just my name as proof of ticketing!! Your counter personnel were also very accommodating - I had a paper shopping bag full of goodies for the grandchildren that was tearing thru at the bottom but your counter guy got me a plastic bag to reinforce the paper bag 👍!! Altogether an excellent experience: how you arranged for such nice weather can forever remain your secret!!

Thank you! I'm not sure we've ever been given a 10 star. : ) I'm glad our staff took care of you and you had a great boat ride.

Great trip. We arrived at approximately 6 pm and made our way towards the entrance of the dock. We bought our tickets ahead of time on their website, and were told to arrive 15 minutes prior to departure. We were able to enjoy the nice scenic views of the cliffs around us, while waiting to board the boat. The seats were assigned on a first come, first serve basis and we opted to sit on the top deck of the boat. The boat tour departed promptly at 6:30 pm and we spent the next 80 minutes sailing down the Saint Croix river. The tour guide narrated certain sections of the tour and told us about the history of the area and the river we were on. The tour guide also pointed out various forms of wildlife, including several bald eagles, nesting high in the trees. The views on the river were fantastic and we were able to see towering cliffs and small islands. The boat moved at a very good pace, and we were able to capture some scenic pictures and videos of the views around us. We are planning on coming back to the area, in order to hike some of the trails at this park.

Tip: I recommend spending 1.5 hours here if you truly want to see everything.
