The hills at Wild Mountain are good, a great variety of green, blue, and black diamond hills. What wasn’t great was the lack of enforcing COVID precautions. Over 75% of the skiers and snowboarders there were not wearing face masks, even though there are signs around Wild Mountain. They weren’t just not wearing masks when skiing, but in the lift lines when they were near people as well. I even saw employees who were lift attendants not wearing masks. At other ski hills I’ve went to the mask requirements were heavily enforced, however, at Wild Mountain I saw no employees telling skiers and snowboarders to wear their masks even though there were signs saying masks are required.

First time visiting Wild Mountain, a small northern Minnesota ski hill. Wild traditionally opens early for 2020, October 20th. I went up on Oct. 31, a rope tow and one chair with two runs were open. It’s early season but I still got to ski in October for the first time. Temps were warm so it was like spring season in the fall. May have to make a return trip this winter when the whole hill is open. Summer would be a fun visit as well. Mountain coaster, water slide etc.

Why should anyone pay $43 to ski the handful of runs here when Afton gives 10 bucks off each visit after you get the free lift card that you carry inside your jacket? I'll go here when I want some peace and quiet, but half the time they aren't even running all the lifts!

Great day for our family of 4 kids were home from school and wanted to ski. Took advantage of friends and family discount and saved a significant amount. Definitely check into that and the military discount. It was not busy at all. Checkin was smooth and gear seemed to be very good. Slopes were in great shape. We do not snowboard but they have one slope with huge jumps and kids were doing flips. Super fun to watch. Nice and close to the cities. We would go back in a heartbeat.

I can not say enough about the ski instructors/ ski patrol and staff at Wild Mountain. I have been wanting to take My son, who is deathly afraid of heights, skiing but was very hesitant. I decided I would sign up for a private lesson right away. We were greeted and introduced to Steve Nelson the ski instructor for the private lesson. I honestly didn’t know if the instructor would be able to get my son to even try skiing. Within about 20 min I noticed they were in line at the chair lift! Kellen came down smiling ear to ear!! Thank you Steve for your patience and your great ski lesson. We will be setting up more lessons with Steve for sure. We arrived at Wild Mountain at 9:30am and I had to tell him the day was over at 7:40pm. The high was 10 degrees but he could have cared less. We got in our truck, my son looked at me and said “ That was awesome, can we come back tomorrow?” “Why did I wait so long to learn how to ski??!!”
My son was skiing down even the most difficult hills by the afternoon.

I did everything online a few days ahead of time. We arrived, the staff pulled up our reservation, hand us our lift tickets and showed us where to get the rental equipment for my son and where to go for the lesson. The staff working on slopes running the chair lifts were so helpful and polite as well!! My nephew took a tumble and so I also got a chance to briefly chat with the ski patrol. They too were fantastic. They checked my nephew out, made sure he was okay. We will be back!! Fantastic staff!!!!

We gave our grandkids a day of skiing at Wild Mountain for Christmas- and Monday Jan. 21 was the day!! We had a great experience and so much fun!! The rental staff was so patient and helpful (first time skiers). I can't say enough about the great job the chairlift people did making sure we were safe getting on and off. When a 70 year old grandma and kids, 8, 10, 12 & 13 can enjoy a day of skiing in a safe, friendly environment and go home wonderfully tired and happy, I'd say the resort is operating at an A+👏👏😃👍

I would love to give Wild Chutes more then 5 stars if I could. My son has autism and was having a hard time understanding the concept. (he wanted to run down the hill). He was making a scene at first and crying but the guys helping at the top were SO patient!! If it had not been for them we would have had to leave. After the first time down my son loved it!!
How kind and patient the staff was with us really meant a lot!
High fives from us!!

In a winter that has not had much snow, nor weather conducive to making it, I skied Wild Mountain this past week (1/9/19) & was pleasantly surprised to find all trails open & snow conditions excellent! I've skied at Wild Mountain for more than 47 years & still think of it as one of the best ski areas in Minnesota & certainly around the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Craig Poeschl
