Lovely wooded area with small car park, perfect for family & dog walks. Close to Folkestone and Canterbury. Beautiful country walk, definitely recommend.

Real asset in a perfectly nice area that others probably bypass

Real asset in a perfectly nice area, that we chose to spend New Year in - the area not the wood! Most people probably just bowl on by, but the area around Densole and Reinden Woods are great for a New Year's Day walk, with a drink in the Black Horse afterwards. Quite varied woodlands with mixed evergreen and deciduous trees, good paths though a bit muddy in December. Stick to the perimeter of the woods as the interior is out of bounds MoD land. Start the walk near the General Stores in Densole and get some fields in before the woods. The nature of the woods changes with different vistas sometimes out along chalk valleys, sometimes wooded hills and sweeping paths. Really nice. Parts of it, especially in summer or when drier, would be quite accessible in a wheelchair, from the car park, however, some of the shuttered paths have obviously suffered subsequently from leaf fall and mould.

Nice for a walk
Sep 2019 • Couples
A walk round the woods was very pleasant, pathways easy to follow, although it was a su my day there were muddy sections so I'd recommend old shoes preferably wellies. Lots of dog walkers ( I do wish every dog owner would pick up their dogs poop especially on the pathways) . Birds and the odd squirell quite often seen

Getting back to nature - but don't stray from the paths or you could be shot!
Jun 2018 • Family
These are lovely woods on the outskirts of Hawkinge village. There is parking and rubbish bins. Very natural with little wooden hideouts dotted about plus a large grass training area, a bit like an amphitheatre.

Very popular with dog walkers - you have to pick up the poo, so take bags! Also horse riders.

Great for rambling with the family or childrens' groups.

Dog walk

Great place to walk your dog or go for a run. There is an MOD training area located inside the woods which is prohibited to the public, sometimes you can hear them firing inside although this doesn't happen that often.

A 'nice' walk in the woods?
Nov 2016
This is a structured circular walk in a large wood. Just remember not to stray off the circular walk as the enjoyment police will track you down and warn you off. These over officious people play god when polite reminder will do. The woods get busy now because of the large new estates and the car parking is limited.

Greta for walking the dog or clearing your head!

I live near by and often walk from hawkinge into reinden wood. It basically goes in a big circle around the woods, brilliant place if you have a dog too. There are ww2 history bits if you branch off and have a look. Lots of beautiful scenery, there is also a car park and can actually get quite busy in the day!

Great place for a country walk
Mar 2017 • Couples
2.2 miles around the designated footpath. Parking for about 12 vehicles on free car park. Note this is MOD land and visitors are required to keep to the designated footpaths. If you branch office these you will find ww2 bunkers.
A very pretty walk even in the winter.
