What a bummer
Sep 2020
All descriptions I have seen fails to tell that the bridge has been under repair since 2017!!!
Drove more than 600 km just to see an emty lake and a bridge surrounded by scaffolding. Not even in the paid lot where you have to park in order to get to the place did they warn the visitors. Only a big sign with a picture of how it normally looks.

Work in progress

Avoid it, it’s under repairs and there is not much to see besides it. Huge parking space, it will take one more year till it’s ready

under renovation at the moment
Jul 2020
it's a nice spot if you are in the area (just a few minutes walk from the car park), but under repair at the moment, no lake, no real real effect due to renovation works. The forest however is also nice to have a short walk.

Under Repair
Nov 2019 • Friends
We reached Weißwasser at 8:40 and had bus no. 257 to Kromlau at 9:38. However bus did not show up as it was saturday. We walked 5.5 km to the bridge, only to find that it was under repair. We couldnt even go below, the entire area was barricaded. No info on repairs is stated anywhere. Do not disappoint yourself.

Stunning bridge in repair
Sep 2019 • Couples
Our 5-hour driving round-trip to see this century old sleek stone bridge in suburban area in eastern Germany close to Poland, left us highly disappointed. While the bridge is nothing short of architectural work built in 1860s the landscape and water surrounding thee bridge has nothing but disappear due to the major ongoing repair work, which we cant find the information anywhere. Make sure you check whether the work is still going on otherwise don’t waste your time come here.

No access to the bridge. Surrounded by fencing. Under rehabilitation. Would have been a great place to visit.

Interesting park, the bridge is under maintenance
Jun 2019 • Couples
We wanted to visit this place for a long time and we finally managed to get here at the beginning of June 2019. A parking place was very easy to find in the parking lot nearby as the place was not crowded at all.
Unfortunately the famous bridge is still under maintenance and there are fences all around, the water was drained so we didn't had the chance to see the spectacular landscape as we expected.
Still, the park was very beautiful for a peaceful walk and we discover many other sculptures and a little nice castle :) Definitely we will come back to see also the spectacular Devil's Bridge.

Beautiful hidden place!
Sep 2018 • Friends
I was always wondering about Rakotzbrucke Bridge and keep looking at photos. When we were in Germany I really wanted to visit this place and we manage to did it! For me it was really worth! Its a magical bridge that hidden middle of the cute forest. We had nice walk around that area and took some photos at Rakotzbrucke.
We were in Berlin and drive there, otherwise it was not really easy from Berlin to this place. It was very beautiful day, driving there was not boring in beautiful Germany.

Just for information you are not allowed to go on the bridge but you do not need to anyway :) you can take nice photos next to bridge. This visit was one of highlight of our trip to Germany!

" The most overhyped bridge "
Nov 2018 • Friends
We visited the Devil's bridge or Rakotzbrucke from Hamburg in November and was disappointed like many others but the 5 hrs drive was scenic and beautiful with the fall colours splashed across the way. It is located in Kromlau park and there is a convenient parking spot with a meter. The bridge is under renovation for 2 years and the water surrounding it is drained for this purpose. The area around it is fenced, so it is illegal to cross over and walk on the bridge (most of the pictures online are photoshopped except for a few daredevils) .
There is no "best time" to visit and any time is good as long as there is water to show the reflection of the bridge in a complete circle (again most of the pics uploaded online is photoshopped with the exception of a few).

TIP: I suggest visiting this place only if it is enroute to your destination, do not get carried away with the edited online pictures and come with a high expectation
