About
A scenographic concept unique in the world. The Manoir retraces the private and public life of this genius of the seventh art. The Studio, a new building of Hollywood inspiration, presents the cinematographic work of one the greatest artists of the 20th century. The four-hectare park showcases hundred-year-old trees beloved by Charlie Chaplin and a breathtaking view of Lake Léman and the Alps.

We have loved this museum and have visited multiple times over the years - such an interactive museum with well- put-together exhibits. However, besides wearing masks (obligatory in Vaud) and a maximum limit of customers in gift shop, there are few covid measures in place. Too many people are in the museum rooms, no arrows on the floor to guide people where to go...there is one security guard at the entrance, though after entry people crowd to see exhibits, often walking in the wrong directions. For 27chf/adult, you would think they could put a few more staff around to control the crowds! Dare I say money making?!
We have visited many museums in Switzerland, and this was far too crowded.

Ther complex consists of two parts, namely the original house of Charlie, Oona, and their kids, as well as a modern building housing a film theatre, a number of recreated film sets, and the souvenir store.
For history buffs, the house almost in its original state enhanced by quite a numb er of original photographs and documents is a must. Be aware though, that Chaplin's distaste for the US is quite prominently emphasized.
The modern structure is cleverly done, with sets, films, and memorabilia all merging into one.
A visit is expensive, not only because of the ticket prices, but parking fees, refreshments, and souvenirs are priced Swiss style as well.

Excellent day out with the kids, we came from Geneva. The view is amazing to the lake, nice parc, good shop. The exhibitions in Chaplins house are amazing, we loved the display in every room, We loved the creative presentation ie. the Esinstein figure and the mirror in the bathroom and the movie about his trip around the World. The interactive stages at the end with the moving stage, the old film editing machines for sound effects you can try, the ticket office and movie sets etc, are great idea! One of the best museums I have ever been to.

Amazing place, great museum done with a huge love to this amazing Personality Sir Charli Chaplin. Three locations to visit - the house where Chaplin spent 25 last years of his life, his garden which he loved with all his heart and Chaplin's studios. Very beautiful and almost alive wax figures, many interesting facts from the full life of this humanist Mr. Chaplin, great movies and breathtaking cinema studio, where you are like inside his best movies.
Definitely must visit!
Tasty cafe for coffee and lunch on the territory and cool gift shop.

Chaplin's World may be our favorite museum ever and we have seen a few. We liked how Chaplin's movies were tied into so many of the exhibits. We learned so much about his life and spent a lot of time laughing. Be sure to allow enough time to see the house and the Studio. It was an easy bus ride from the train station in Vevay.

It was the home of Charlie Chaplin for about 25 years.
There is a museum in memory of Charlie Chaplin.
There are extensive gardens of about 140 acres all around
View of Lake Geneva.
Visiting time is about 3 hours and you can be there for a whole day.
This man was a genius!

Seeing the Manor & Studio was terrific. Learning about Chaplin’s life and what a compassionate & talented human being he was. I would have loved to see the potato dance & the none-sense scene displayed more prominently. Some of his bits were repetitive but hey it’s Chaplin & doesn’t get old!

Although my family is from the Lake Geneva area, I missed so far a visit at the Chaplin's world.
This December I have taken the time to go with my daughter and I need to say that it is absolutely fabulous. The presentation, animation, interactive spots as fantastic and brings you to the times, when Chaplin had his great times.
A must-see

This really blew us away. Beautiful grounds and exhibits and so informative in a wonderful setting. The studio film and sets are magical and transport you to another world. A real eye opener on his life and creative genius.

The ticket office is inside the souvenir shop,
then between the "studio" and the manoir, you have to cross once again the souvenir shop
and where is the way out ? trough the souvenir shop !
3 times in it and no other choice
this is unacceptable for me as a start, it kill the tour,
i come to visit, and i have to pay 3 times (tickets, parking and souvenirs)
you can imagine with kids, they want 3 times to buy the same bad quality advertising
everything i saw was plastic made and would be broken on the way back from the museum
what about souvenir for adults ? No dvd box set, no special dvd, you can find the same in you dvd seller and few expensive books (a french book was sold 14.50 francs, for an original cost of 7.50 euros which is less than 10 francs normally...)
what about the studio ?
A fake...of a fake. They make effect to hide how empty it is. many videos in the "studio" that you can see on your own in a library
few highlights a part from the cane (i ve seen 2 "originals" in fact....) and a pair of shoes
the manoir could be interesting, but the 2 floor is closed (you can privatize it), the 1st floor is totally modified, it could a museum anywhere (what is the point of going in a private place of living and feel like in a museum somewhere)
few explanation on the ground floor
finally, the place is an evocation to make money
that is not the image i had from this man
i though he was philanthropic, not venal
maybe i was wrong
i would never recommend anybody to go there

Dear Jolaban,
Thank you very much for your recent visit to Chaplin’s World and for taking the time to review it. It’s only through feedback such as yours that we can maintain and improve the experience we provide to our visitors.
We’re disappointed to read that your recent experience at Chaplin’s World didn't meet your expectations, but also surprised at some of the points you mention. Please rest assured that your message has been taken into consideration, and we are currently working on the issues you describe such as the regulation of the flow of visitors, however it is important to note that some buildings are of historical heritage and that little can be done to alter the layout.
Chaplin’s World aims to give visitors an immersive experience, so we could say that it’s more than a museum. In The Studio, we meet Charlie Chaplin The Artist, where we embark on a journey through the sets of his films. Here, visitors can see some of Chaplin’s original canes and boots, as well as Chaplin’s City Lights costume, his Oscars, his contract with Karno’s, to mention just a few.
In The Manoir, we meet Charlie Chaplin The Man, following in the footsteps of his day-to-day life. Most rooms in The Manoir have been restored with the family’s own furniture and personal items. Throughout the visit, visitors can learn more about the Chaplins’ family life and gain insight into how he lived his last 25 years in Switzerland, as well as coming face to face with the many celebrity guests invited into his home.
Concerning the shop, we are surprised and sorry to read that you didn’t find boxsets, exclusive items. We would like to take this opportunity to inform you that we propose around 500 different articles of which 90% are not exclusively for children. You can be sure that we are continually developing exclusive articles and that 95% of the articles sold in the shop are made in Europe.
Please do not hesitate to contact us at contact@chaplinsworld.com if you would like to discuss further.
With kind regards
Alba

Chaplins_World
Corsier-sur-Vevey, Switzerland
Hi Maddy,
Thank you very much for your question. You have two options to get to Chaplin’s World with public transport:
By boat: Depending on the hour you want to come, you need to go to either to Geneva Mont-Blanc quay or Geneva Eaux-Vives and stop in Vevey-Marché. Once in Vevey, you will need to walk around 10 minutes until the bus stop “Vevey Poste,” near Vevey Train station, and take the bus line 212 to “Chaplin” bus stop. Although this option will take you around 5h30, you will live a slow-life journey. Please, find all the information in the lake cruise company website: cgn.ch/en/
By train: Go Geneva train station and take the train to Vevey. Then, take the bus line 212 to “Chaplin” bus stop at the bus stop “Vevey Poste,” in front of the train station.
Be sure to take place on the right side of the train, close to the window to enjoy the spectacular Swiss landscapes since the Train shape Geneva lake. This option will take you around 1h30. You will find all the information on the railway website: sbb.ch/en/leisure-holidays/ideas/offer.html/tagesausflug/chaplins-world
We hope we answer all your questions,
With kind regards,
