This was one of my favorite spots that we visited on the North Shore this trip! The river is beautiful, the hike down was easy. Not accessible though. Stunning rapids and fun place to pick rocks.

From the visitor center, take the short hike down to the mouth of the Baptism, where it dumps into Lake Superior. Nice spot for agate hunting, fishing, dipping your feet in the cool water, or just chilling out.

Viewing the big and little falls, listening to it at night, taking walks along it, listening to birds, seeing deer up close.

Having lived within 2 miles of the Baptism River for the past 48 years I have spent many hours hiking out to the High Falls and back. I have seen it during ice-out in the spring when the torrents of run-off have filled the banks to near over-flowing. I have seen it during a dry summer when the water levels... More

Did not encounter many other hikers at the mouth of the river. The hike of ~ 1.5 miles to the the falls is well worth the effort but could tire you out if you are used to hiking and doing lots of stairs,

Totally enjoyed the Cascades Trail to the Baptism River. The path led through wildflowers and followed the river all the way to the rocks that formed the Cascades. A manageable hike on an unusually hot summer day in Minnesota.

This is a beautiful park and there are many sights to see. You can easily spend a whole day here. Make sure that you check out Shovel Point.
