Fitzgerald's Theater is a 1,000-seat theater and a huge broadcast studio, with airwaves reaching millions of people tuned in to "A Prairie Home Companion." The theater is so beautiful and comfortable. I witnessed a performance by an amazing local band. Everything was perfect. The interior is highly elegant and resemble opera houses of the turn of the century era.The theater... More

It was my good fortune to attend one of the radio broadcasts of Garrison Keillor. It was wonderful to watch after spending so many years listening to his radio show. My husband and I were thoroughly entertained. there is a refreshment counter that offers adult beverages, soft drinks and movie style candy. We were able to purchase Powdermilk Biscuit hats... More

I attended the final performance of A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor as host in the Fitz! I got to go backstage and down the narrow stairs around the box seats. The restoration is amazing. This is an intimate theatre and well worth going into for a show. The seats are close and tight, so be advised. I am... More

Since I learned that Garrison Keillor is going to retire I was obsessed with finding someone to go with me on a trip to St Paul, MN. I did not know it was hosted in the Fitzgerald Theater. I just wanted to see his show life. We got to town 4:40pm and on our tickets it said that shows starts... More

Can recall my earlier comments as it's been about a year. Can recall what all the excitement was about as I am sure I would not go back.

Caught one of the Prairie Home Companion shows before Mr. Keillor's retirement. Show was great - what can one say. This was one of 3 Shubert movie theaters built about 1910 - the smallest and least ornate. It was brought back to life in the 1990s by Minn. Public Radio specifically for PHC. It is not the "knock your socks"... More

"This 1,000-seat theater acts as MPR's largest broadcast studio, with airwaves reaching millions of people tuned in to A Prairie Home Companion. Our staged productions commission authors, artists and radio hosts to create intellectually stimulating programs that delight and enlighten our vast public radio community. The Fitzgerald Theater is Saint Paul's oldest theater and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2010."... More

On a recent visit to the area it was nice to see the location of one of my favorite broadcasts..."A Prairie Home Companion". No shows going on during my stay so I guess I will miss seeing Garrison before his retirement in a few months.

Caught a show here on a weekend business trip (a taping of a local NPR show, WITS). Theater is historic, beautifully maintained. Staff and volunteer ushers were perhaps the friendliest I've ever come across. And, at least on the night I attended, it was allowed to take beverages into the theater ( as God intended). Great experience.

Excellent! 3 of us went to the show on February 7th, with some amazing folks! Chris Thile, Punch Brothers, Sarah Jarosz, Billy Collins, etc... It was my first time in this theatre, and I am so glad we decided to make the trip for this show. Great old theatre, great show, and great tradition!
