I grew up around the cities, and go to the state fair every single year with either family or friends. There's always something new to see, do, or eat here. It has something for everyone, whether that be local beer, fried foods, rides, animals, etc....More

I haven’t missed a State Fair in my lifetime that I know of. It can cost you just the price of admission or spend an exorbitant amount. The people watching is extraordinary.

What truly makes the Minnesota State Fair different from most state fairs is the location. Most states have fair grounds located way off in some small town with a totally rural vibe. The Minnesota fair grounds are located right in the middle of St Paul,...More

Everyone must go to the MN State Fair at least once, preferably more, in their life! Everything is on a stick. Animals, attractions, rides, food, beer, and great people watching!

Awesome experience. Great food, attractions, rides. Everything you'd want a state fair to be! And, you can walk around and drink a beer.

Yes the fair is handicap accessible. Some rides probably are not, but exhibits are.

Yes. Shuttle parking from the Mall of America across from the East parking ramp. I'm sure it will be well marked. Come early, though; the shuttle lots tend to fill very quickly.

My wife and I intend to visit the Ohio State Fair while on a road trip from Chicago to Washington. Can anyone suggest a suitable hotel to stay near thr fairground. Any other advice on visiting the fair would be appreciated

do not stay "near" the fair grounds. It sits in the midst of a not desirable part of town. Stay either downtown Columbus or in one of the suburbs. Drive into the fair. Very easy commute from other areas of the city. Fair grounds is right off I 71. I wouldn't be good to suggest a hotel. I live here, so never stay at them :)

Alert: GOP Convention 9/1-4/08 = Tight Twin Cities Lodging (3 Replies)
FYI-- compliments of (and credit to) Minneapolis Star-Tribune newspaper article 11/16/07, written by Susan Feyder. The US National Republican Party (Presidential Candidate Nomination) Convention will be Sept. 1-4, 2008, at the Xcel Energy Center arena in St. Paul. As part of the bid to host the event, there was a guarantee of 30,000 of 35,000 available rooms of what was described as within a 30-min. drive to downtown St. Paul. Exact properties were not listed. Keep in mind the tight...More

Bus from Door County to Brewer Game or WI State Fair? (4 Replies)
A group of us will be vacationing in Door County next week, near Sturgeon Bay. We thought it would be fun to go to a Brewers game and perhaps the WI state fair while we are there. Does anyone know of any bus trips that will be going to Milwaukee? Local bar, groups, etc.?

Response fromjade_w21|
Door County is about three hours from Milwaukee. Going to a game or the state fair would not be a day trip.
