My daughter and I took lunch we picked up to this park in November and only had to wear light coats! There were others who had the same idea. This was the first time we have visited here, and I think maybe if we come back it will be in the summer to get a different vibe. Maybe it was the drabness of the season, but we didn’t think it was super special. Lots of areas to gather though.

We did two hikes while at the park. The first was right off the parking lot and led to the Mississippi River. The kids enjoyed playing in the water and seeing a fire boat tug by.

The second was in an attempt to find the waterfall, Hidden Falls. Directions: Go into the park and down a steep hill. Turn into the first parking lot (there are three covered pavilions and a bathroom). The trail is behind the women’s bathroom. There is no signage, which would be nice. You’ll know you are on the right trail as you’ll start to see rock walls as you are walking.

When we visited the falls we’re blocked off with a construction fence so we heard them but never saw them.

Beautiful park on the shores of the Mississippi River. The Falls are really hidden are difficult to locate as there is no sign to tell you which trail to take.
To find the Falls, as you turn into the park and go down a steep hill, turn into the first parking lot (there are 3 buildings near that parking lot) and the trail is behind those buildings. You’ll know you’re on the right trail as you’ll start to see some rock walls as you walking. It’s beautiful and peaceful back by the falls and the hike is short and easy

A huge housing project is going in next to this park. The road now dead ends so you have to turn around. The only part of the park that is open is a "viewpoint" which is overgrown with nothing to see. Don't waste your time.

Park in the lot closest to the north entrance of the park. Walk north past the building with the rest rooms. You'll see a path. It's a short easy walk (few hundred yards) to the falls. The falls are NOT a part of the Mississippi River so don't look along the river bank. :)
Another entrance. Follow Mississippi River blvd farther north of the park entrances. There's a smal parking area just off of the blvd with a statue from Egypt. Park. Walk east, which would be Mississippi River Blvd before it turns south, there's a path with a waterfall sign on your right. Walk down the steps. You're there!

Found it no problem. Instead of parking in the north parking lot, Go to the next little parking area north of the north parking lot. Then head towards the north parking lot. After about 1 to 2 min walk you will see a little side trail. It's a staircase path down to the falls. You can hear the falls from the main walking trail if you park in that little parking area.

Park is fairly easy to find, but once you are in the park it gets a lot tougher to find things. The falls are supposed to be the draw, yet there is no signage to direct you to the correct trailhead. I did see a sign about not leaving valuables in you vehicle, and a sketchy looking guy sitting by the picnic pavilion, so I just decided to move on to a different location.

I was excited to visit this park for the first time. But as soon as I got there the lack of signage made it really difficult for me to know where I was going. I had hoped to find the falls and searched for them for about an hour and never found them. The funny thing was I asked more than 15 people if they knew where the Falls were and I received one of two answers. Either "I'm looking for the Falls too and I can't find them." or " I had no idea there were Falls here."
While I did enjoy walking on some of the paved trails, and even hiking on some of the back Trails, I was severely underwhelmed by this park.

Fun park right along the river.
Walking trails lead you through the woods from the falls to the river. The area near the falls was landscaped beautifully generations ago and while not meticulously maintained, holds a natural charm. There's also boat access to the river from here. Some picnic facilities that could be a bit better maintained, but overall a way to get into nature right in the city.

My husband and I walked from a parking lot along Mississippi River Boulevard down to the falls and picnic area. What a scenic park! The stone detail is beautiful on the way down to the falls. The other reviews I read made it seem like it was going to be hard to find the falls. That wasn't our experience at all. I've posted a picture of the sign showing that you're walking towards the falls from Mississippi River Boulevard. I will say - people are right that there's pretty much no signage in the park. We came to the park hoping to hike some of the 6.7 miles of trails that we had read about. I'm assuming some were underwater, but I'd never know what was a park trail and what was just a scenic sidewalk along grass and trees. Be dressed for uneven steps, unpaved paths, and potentially mud.
