A very average Scandinavian speciality shop. The one in Stockholm, WI is a lot better but they are all topped by Borgens in Westby, WI. The inventory here is limited and you can easily find most other items at other shops focused on Scandinavian goods. We visited on a recent trip to the Mississippi River valley but I won't be here when we come back again.

--chased by one Norwegian! Tourists visiting Minnesoodah can expect to encounter a large population of tall, blond, strange-speaking people of Norwegian ancestry. To attempt communication with these locals, a visit to the Uffda Shop in Red Wing for translation guides such as “How to Speak Minnesotan” and “The Best of Ole and Lena” is always a smart plan. With educational guides in hand, tourists can next get a taste for local cuisine by checking out the Scandinavian food section of the store (mostly sweets). If you are visiting over the Christmas season, you may be lucky enough to enjoy a free sample of a Scandinavian dessert recipes, made in-store, with a free recipe card to boot. Other gift items include Polar Mitts hats, mittens, and scarves, crystal and glass, Christmas collectibles, towels and linens, and dinnerware. If you are a local, you are likely headed to the store for Christmas items such as troll statues, woolen Dale of Norway sweaters, or high-quality, krumkake and Bethany Housewares lefse equipment. Both tourists and locals alike will enjoy learning interesting facts about store items and Scandinavian culture from the friendly and knowledgeable store associates. They are also always happy to gift-wrap your purchase in the Scandinavian wrapping paper of your choice! Be forewarned that you may find yourself using the word “uffda” when shopping here as prices can be a bit “spendy”.

Love this "Scandinavian" shopping experience! We visit and shop in Red Wing every year driving between Minneapolis and Rochester.
Uffda is filled with unique and eclectic gift and holiday "goodies" from Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. The table liners are just beautiful, along with various Scandinavian candle holders, traditional home items, jewelry, local "custom" gift items that are accompanied with the story behind the item and their history. Also found are candies, cookies, colorful socks of all sizes and this year the Santa Candles are just the best ever.
Stop by this shop, if you are near Red wing or order a catalog and enjoy growing through the pages of this neat store.

So when in Minnesota, go native and visit the Uffda Store in Red Wing. I did, looking for some gifts for family. Stopped in about 15 minutes before closing time, but the wonderful woman at the counter encouraged me to take my time browsing. There is a good amount of Scandinavian accouterments to browse, so browse I did.
There are the usual tee shirts with pithy sayings, Uffda mugs, magnets, jewelry, and knick-knacks. And there are more specialized items like the Orrefors Kosta Boda crystal items that will give you quite a work out hefting them. There are knitted throws and sweaters and hats and mittens.
And then there are the socks. Wonderful kaleidescope-of-colors socks that scream Pippi Longstockings. I bought a pair for me and a pair as a gift. Bought an intriguing Orrefors votive candle holder too that gives off the optical illusion of a candy dish.
The employee was helpful, and even wrapped the socks. She wanted to wrap everything, but I'm glad she didn't wrap the candle holder since I took it in my carry on luggage and that singled me out for a bag search. The TSA agent marveled at the candle holder, and so did another schmuck stuck in the search lane.
I liked it so much, I ordered another one online as soon as I got home: candle holder, not a TSA search. Order arrived in two days...gift wrapped.

What a nice shop! It has a bit of everything, at a variety of price levels. I was hoping to find a cookie press, and sure enough, they had several to choose from.

Stopped in since we were in town and saw the reviews. The sales ladies were darling - and wearing hard hats to celebrate construction of the in street. There is a unique and extensive display of gifts, jewelry and linens along with crystal and Christmas ornaments.

I found the shop to have a large selection of well designed Scandinavian products, not only tourist "trolls and lefse".
I did quite a bit of gift buying and the ladies could not have been more helpful, Finding me boxes for my assorted purchases.
I think the owner/ buyer does a great job of selecting well designed items as I love the general clean and simple Scandinavian aesthetic.
I'll be back. Or will buy on line.
