As a close neighbor to this property, but new to the Pine City area, felt an obligation (and was curious) to visit the site. Perfect timing with regard to the special event weekend in late September, where they have re-enactments and people in character. Canoe rides, food vendors, shoe/clothing vendors. Great tour guide who knew a lot about the original... More

My daughter and I stumbled upon this wonderful historic site quite by accident, and what a pleasant one it was! As we were driving from Minneapolis to the North Shore we saw signs for the North West Company Fur Post and decided to stop. Lucky for us, a school had booked a field trip there that day or it would... More

We found the annual Mystery at the Fur Post event online and traveled from NE to attend. The event did not disappoint. It was very budget friendly and they had thought of everything. We talked to actors who were wearing authentic clothing and followed clues by candlelight lanterns to solve the mystery. Then, we enjoyed some apple cider while we... More

The guide in period costume did a Good job of bring living history to life on the trail and at the fort. He engaged the young audience in activities that got their attention and... More

Excellent stop for anyone interested in early history of MN and the fur trade. Restored fur trading post and fantastic and beautiful interpretive center. We had an excellent guide with an appropriate foreign accent dressed in period costume. He held the interest of the adults as well as the children. Beautiful area for a short hike as well.

Took 3 generations (kids, grandparents) to this historical site. The tour which is about 30-40 minutes long with tour guides dressed in costumes was great. Kids get to touch almost everything! The guides were engaging and asked kids questions etc.. After you are done lots of beautiful trails for easy hikes and benches along the way to soak up nature.... More

A great experience for my girls. We got a ride on the dog sled. The exhibits were set up so the girls could play in the teepee and touch the blankets, and clothing. Outside the teepee there was a fake campfire with pots and pans dishes all made for that era.
