Coming north out of Ortonville, a friend and I saw the park on the left for what seemed like miles before actually reaching the park entrance. I was beginning to wonder whether I would ever get there. The south unit of the park has some...More

rolled in in the late afternoon july 2017. Tent camped 20 feet from shore in the state park. First thing we noticed was the putrid disgusting smell coming off the water. The water had the look and consistence of tomato soup only brownish green. Walked...More

This state park is split into two locations. Camping (primarily) at one park, and lake shore hiking at the other half of the park eleven miles away!

Always so fun here. Fishing usually great! Shopping in town is fun and beverage at several local bars is a great time! State park is close and so is refuge. Just love Ortonville :)

Trip was a disaster... but it was all just bad luck. Normally, fishing is pretty good. South Dakota laws, even with a Minnesota license.. so you can use two lines. Walleye limit is 4, but that's ok.
