Terrible beds, either broken or worn out, terrible! If you don't get a decent night sleep you can't enjoy playing like you should be able to. If it wasn't for the beds it would have been a higher rating. Still trying to recover. Of course,...More

came back for a summer weekend. campground was busy. we had a nicely shaded campsite in the non-electric section, right off the hiking trail (#9) that gave us some privacy too. on Saturday night a big storm came in, and both the park staff and...More

I grew up in New Ulm in the 80's & 90's, and have many fond memories of Flandrau. I thought it would be fun to take my family to swim and barbeque for the 4th and show them one of my favorite childhood places. What...More

Stayed in the first camper cabin- electricity and heat! Close to outhouse and bathrooms with water and shower. Able to walk to the manmade pool - 5ft deep with lifeguards that take a short break every hour. There were concessions at the lake if ice...More

My family goes to Flandrau State Park to enjoy nature. Our main interest is in the woodland ecosystem - especially spring wildflowers. We have noticed a tremendous decline in the quality of our experience. The DNR hasn't controlled garlic mustard which is one of the...More

We go to Flandrau at least once every year. Our favorite is the sand bottom, filtered, life -guarded swimming pool. If your group is older, it's fun to throw a inner tube in the river and float down a way. There are also many wonderful...More

Stayed for 2 nights and 3 days, sand bottom swimming pool was the highlight of the visit and walking trails were great, we will be camping here again.

Always a fun camping trip. The walking trails are very nice, not un common to spot a deer or two. The swimming beach is also a treat. The last time we even walked through the woods to the brewery.

I was wondering if any one can just go to the park and hike for the day? I would really love to bring my family there to hike but I'm not sure if hiking is available to the public or if you have to be staying at the camp ground to do so. Some parks only allow people staying in the park to hike. Also when are the hours and times of the year to be able to hike?

Hello Hannah. Flandrau is a state park so it is open to the public year-round. A day hike would be perfect! I suggest using the park's hiking club trail; it starts at the pool and talks you along the river, through... More

The park doesn't have bike trails, only hiking. The city of New Ulm has a bike loop that is pleasant and about 12-15 miles long. A good description of it, along with other area activities, can be found on the city's website... More
