I am so very intrigued by Wanda Gag. She was so talented! Along with other members of her family, including her father who painted the Catholic Cathedral in New Ulm. (beautiful - go see it too!) There are houses and buildings all over New Ulm with Gag paintings inside of them on the walls. This house is a must see... More

What an interesting tour! The volunteer was friendly and knowledgeable and I learned a lot about Wanda Gag and her fascinating family. I love Victorian homes, so it was also wonderful to see the house--and I picked up some great souvenirs in the gift shop too!

We didn't know much about the Gags but found it wasn't just Wanda (Millions of Cats author) who is interesting. Her whole family seemed to be plucky and artistic. This is reflected in their house that is more whimsical than a typical Queen Anne house. They have done a great job showing the restoration and pointing out the interesting features... More

I became fascinated by the story of Wanda Gag so we had to visit when we came to New Ulm. The house had an interesting design. I wished there had been more of Wanda's art, which was so unique, as opposed to her father's.

Learning about why he built his home. The reason for each room and design. I loved everything about this exhibit

Built and decorated by her father, also an artist, Wanda's family home has been restored and is operated by docents who have maintained this little jewel and remembered the life and work of one of our greatest translators and illustrators of children's literature. It was Wanda Gag who translated Snow White and made the images that influenced Walt Disney in... More

Will enjoy this visit. Move at your own pace and take time to notice the details. Interesting Bohemian architecture and a fascinating family tale.

Wanda Gag grew up in New Ulm of Bohemian parents. She then left for the East Coast and became one of America's best known children's authors. This is her childhood home. She grew up here. The house is small (they were not rich). But the house does a great job at recreating the world in which she grew up. It... More

As a little girl I had always loved reading Wanda Gag's books. During school trips around the town it was my favorite place to visit, and when I moved right across the street from the Wanda Gag house I was thrilled. Waking up every morning I get to see the beautiful house and the handy craft work. When it's not... More
