The tour guide was very knowledgeable regarding the 150 year history of the brewery. Though late in the year the gardens around the property were beautiful.Iit was fun to see the inner workings of the brewery.

We went here but they were not offering tours that day. Very cool museum and it was free! Nice gift shop also!

My wife and I went to Schells to take a tour and sample some beer and had a great experience. The practically free ($3?) tour isn't anything to write home about, as it's pretty standard if you've ever toured another brewery, but the on-site museum is fascinating, the tour guide was engaging and knowledgeable, and the free beer sampling at... My wife and I usually visit the gardens weekly from mid-spring to mid-autumn. Its always fun to see the changing blooms. We enjoy the deer and the two male peacocks. We usually bike to the garden- the route is very pleasant. The museum, store and brewery tour are nice options. The garden is free. As you walk through the site... More

The brewery and mansion are located in a secluded area of New Ulm. The grounds are beautiful flower gardens which are extremely well kept. Nestled in the Cottonwood River valley this historic building and grounds are a must see. The museum and gift shop are pricey. There was a peacock roaming the grounds and there is a deer park.

I took 3 granddaughters to walk around the Schell's grounds one afternoon. They saw the deer, goldfish, flowers, and peacock. While they enjoyed it all, I wasn't as pleased with the rickety bridge and poor conditions for the deer. The grounds used to be kept up better. We did see 2 girls weeding the extensive flower patches.

We ere at the brewery on a very hot day so did not sign up for the tour. We did spend quite a bit of time in the museum which is very well done and is informative.

Very interesting and historic location. Plenty to see between the museum, grounds, and gift shop. Good trip for the family as well. With the brewery tour you have the opportunity to sample beers on tab and root beer for the kids.
