After visiting a couple of great wineries in Minnesota, we planned to finish off Sunday afternoon with a beer sampling at Schell's. We arrived just after 4:00 and found out the only way to try the beer was to be on the 4:00 tour. I will take some of the blame for not researching this interesting restriction, and I was... More

I was there with my son, daughter in law and two grandchildren. (5&6) The grounds are very nice, the music fun, food very good, oh and the 🍻 are tasty too!! Cheers! We were glad we were early, 11:00 to 1:00. I am sure it gets a little crazy as the day goes on. Taking the trolley back down to... More

The old buildings, garden and setting make it worth the time and the beer is good. I will stop again when I'm in the area.

Stopped in for a tour and it was very informative. Loved our guide and our group got to sample all the flavors. Large gift shop and museum to look at while u wait for the tour. Definitely worth the visit You can walk the grounds where the family house is (they no longer live there). Beautiful flower beds and deer... More

Decided to take the brewery tour during a return visit to New Ulm after 35 years. I was told by locals that the tour normally sold out so I arrived at noon to make sure I could pay the $3 fee to reserve a spot on the last tour of the day at 4pm. While reserving my spot, I took... More

This is my second tour to Schells. My wife and I took some of her friends to a tour. Lately, I took my 21 year-old son on the tour. We had a nice introductory history of the family brewery from the 1800s to the present. There was a museum which also had a video of the complete brewing process. We... More

A quaint small town brewery that supplies beer to quite a big area. You really wont find anything but Schells or Grainbelt in town anyway! The tour mostly consists of the history of the brewery, not much of the brewery itself. The family home is still occupied so you don't see that either, but you can wander the gardens. The... More

August Shell Brewery throws a Beer Festival in April to show off the many different varieties of beer they brew & also to have a customer appreciation party on their grounds. During the summertime the grounds have a beautiful flower gardens around the over 100 year old Brewery which is along a beautiful river you can hike down to.
