We were down there for the annual WELS Grade School basketball tournament and a big group went together to the tour with the kids. It was a beautiful February day and was awesome to enjoy the outdoor grounds and of course see the peacocks walking around. The tour is just about right for time with out the kids getting bored.... This was less a beer tour than a self-promotional event for the brewery that unfortunately required an admission fee. The tour consisted of about 1/4 of the time spent naming the family members without any real history of the historic brewery. The second quarter was a very cursory tour of the plant - as it was a weekend day there... More

Thank you for your review. It is unfortunate that you were less than enthused with our tours and beers. Schell's is a 156 year old, family-owned brewery, and are very proud of that fact. We try to keep our tours to a one hour timeframe, and there is not sufficient time to go into a lot of depth on that... More

Everyone needs to take the tour of the brewery and then the tasting of the beer is a must. Then continue to shop.

Our experience was great from beginning to end. For $3 a person it is a lot for your money. Great museum, tour and beer. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Beer tasting was taster generous. My favorite was the new grapefruit beer.

As a New Ulm resident, I have toured Schells 3 or 4 times with visiting friends and relatives and it's always fun. The tour guides are all excellent and make the short tour and tasting experience fun and interesting. Schells is an important part of New Ulm's history and a significant part of New Ulm's current business community.

We enjoyed the Museum, where the tour starts. Don't get there too early, there's limited seating to wait. Next, you're taken outside for a description of the buildings and grounds. Then we all went into the packing area and up stairs to see the huge copper vat. After that, we were ushered downstairs in the Museum / Gift Shop building,... More

After visiting a couple of great wineries in Minnesota, we planned to finish off Sunday afternoon with a beer sampling at Schell's. We arrived just after 4:00 and found out the only way to try the beer was to be on the 4:00 tour. I will take some of the blame for not researching this interesting restriction, and I was... More

I was there with my son, daughter in law and two grandchildren. (5&6) The grounds are very nice, the music fun, food very good, oh and the 🍻 are tasty too!! Cheers! We were glad we were early, 11:00 to 1:00. I am sure it gets a little crazy as the day goes on. Taking the trolley back down to... More

The old buildings, garden and setting make it worth the time and the beer is good. I will stop again when I'm in the area.

Stopped in for a tour and it was very informative. Loved our guide and our group got to sample all the flavors. Large gift shop and museum to look at while u wait for the tour. Definitely worth the visit You can walk the grounds where the family house is (they no longer live there). Beautiful flower beds and deer... More
