If you're looking for a great place to camp or have a picnic this is a spot to try. They call it the big woods because that's what it is. They have many trails you can walk and enjoy the scenery.

Went to the park 4/23/2016 and enjoyed the gorgeous wild flowers. We took the Hidden Falls trail north from the man parking lot. Within a few hundred feet we saw fields of white trout lilies, endangered dwarf trout lilies, dutchman’s britches, and many more. The...More

Nerstrand Big Woods trails were a wonderful, leisurely pleasure to hike on a beautiful early autumn Sunday. I would guess this is a treasure when the fall colors are in full swing. We were too early yet to fully enjoy. The hike to hidden falls...More

I camped here with my family on three sites to celebrate a birthday. The campground was mostly full, primarily with campers and RVs. The bathroom building is new and immaculately clean, I saw staff cleaning the showers every night that we were there. The grounds...More

We hiked to Hidden Falls and then beyond. The falls are very pretty, but not that well hidden as there are often many people there (at least there were when we were present). But hike past them into the woods and you can find places...More

This gorgeous park is one of many throughout Minnesota. We lived here for a couple of years while our son was training for hockey and it is truly overwhelming how many family-friendly parks and dog parks there are here. Minnesota really cares about its people....More

This is a nicely kept state park. The campsites are nicely sized and the hiking trails are well kept. Although there are a few rough areas, most of the trails are fairly easy including the trail down to the waterfalls. There are some nice picnic...More

About all you could do is drive through the camp ground. All the trails are walking trails.
