inside and out - however parking is at a premium - best to use mass transit when touring downtown, then walk

This is right off the train and you can grab this attraction and be in awe for as little as 20 minutes. The outside is monolithic and the inside is a gem of a time-trip. For history buffs read up on it so you can understand the names attached to some of the great things that this city is known for like Pillsbury. It speaks to a time great things were built for a generation that was only an inconceivable dream. MN is a philanthropic state and its founders changed the nations view of public space in this building.

I enjoyed the look and charm of the main hall The stair case is awsome of the marble stairs, I wonder if other people thought the same. There is so many people moving in the building/

If you are going to be in Minneapolis, you have to stop in to see this building. Just take a walk around the outside, imposing sandstone 5 story structure. The real gem is the five story atrium capped by a stained glass dome. The marble and iron work inside makes this building a real gem, like something you would see in Paris - for sure.

I live in Minneapolis and have appreciated and enjoy the restoration of the clock faces on the hall tower. The color and the removal of the not-original red neon has taken it back to a classic look - which I sometimes mistake (the large face(s)) for a full moon nestled in the skyline. The stained glass and sculpture nestled inside is fascinating.

Well worth taking a tour through this beautiful old building with interesting architecture. In the atrium you'll see a grand marble staircase, breathtaking stained glass ceiling and windows, majestic statue - Mississippi, the Father of Waters, and intricately carved marble faces (no two alike) that adorn pillars.

If you've never been in the Minneapolis City Hall, make this the summer to visit.
Things to see:
1. In the main rotunda, you will be greeted by a massive 30 foot tall statue of the "Father of the Waters"...a Neptune-like character complete with spear and a turtle by his side.
2. Ride the elevators that have been restored to their original state. Glass inside the elevator cage allows you to see the shaft and the other elevator as you go up and down.
3. Stained glass and carvings on Rotunda area.
4. On 3rd floor in the outdoor courtyard area, notice the greenery and the bee hives!
5. Lots of nooks and crannies to check out...

City hall is a great architecture marvel. The history in the displays are fun for minnesotan's and visitors alike. Go down into the tunnels and walk to the Government Center to see more interesting displays.

Is it possible to schedule field trip for middle school for Minneapolis Skyway system
Written March 7, 2019
I don't know about scheduling a field trip for the skyways, but you can just go to any downtown Minneapolis building, take the escalator to the second floor, and explore the skyway as much as you like. I also think if you can arrange a field trip to Minneapolis City Hall if you contact the right office, Just do your homework online.
