Because, that's basically what the Greenway is. When I first moved to the twin cities, I hopped on more as a leisurely activity. It's beautiful in the summer because of the continuous green space and parks that sit along the trail. But, I also ride this route away from the city too as a commuting route. If you've visiting, there... More

This paved path runs from the Mississippi River all the way out to Hopkins. I believe it used to be a railroad, but it was gutted and made into a path for bikes, walkers, skaters, etc. This is one of the best bike paths in the country!

A 5.5 mile trail going from the Chain of Lakes on the west end to West River Parkway on the east end and goes right through South Minneapolis. The trail offers a dedicated trail to bikers, walkers and skaters running parallel to Lake street with access to hundreds of restaurants, shops and other businesses (one of my favorites is the... A safe, free from auto traffic, bike and walking route for active people. Call boxes every 1/4 mile or so in case of an emergency. Wide paths and a bike shop along the way.

You have to ride it to appreciate what a dedicated corridor through the heart of a major city does for transforming it into a bicycle meca.

Well done Minneapolis-St. Paul, your trails and parks are a wonderful feature for non-motorized recreation and transportation. I'll tell everyone who will listen here in my home town about how great trails such as the Midtown Greenway are. We rented bikes and pedaled for many miles on the Grand Rounds scenic byway just enjoying the atmosphere. The well-maintained, wide Greenway... More

This is one of my favorite bike trails in the city of minneapolis, which connects from downtown to lake calhoun. Its pretty flat and easy ride. You cross multiple underpasses as the vehicles rush over the bridges above. A great trail for bikers, very pleasent especially during the later evening. The trail is very well patroled and its quite safe... More

I've taken the Greenway many times. While the idea was ingenious many years ago, the route goes through some very ugly locations. The flat ride offers many opportunities to explore other parks, locations, and interesting trails, but itself is rather dull. Fat tire riders beware. Long, and straight sucks on big low pressure tires. Four stars for keeping me off... More

We ride the greenway often in the summer. It has some very cool bridges and buildings along the way. We normally park at the Depot in Hopkins and ride to the Mississippi river and back. The freewheel bike shop is on the path so if you need anything it is a good place to stop. The greenway has a few... More
