Great place to take a date or friend for a walk after a meal or drink at a nearby restaurant in the Park or downtown. Can take the bridge across to visit the sculpture garden or watch squirrels and geese in the small park.

This park is right on the edge of Downtown Minneapolis. It is the location of Holidazzle. Easy to get to driving or by walking or bus.

I enjoyed walking through this park, which was just a few blocks from my hotel. There is gorgeous landscaping and flower garden, a fountain and some play areas. A great place to relax.

I visited Loring Park during the annual Loring Park Art Festival; a beautiful setting for an arts festival. Seemed like hundreds of tents lined up around the lake with artists and crafters; wide variety of styles. Also enjoyed the live entertainment including the Target Spots;...More

I would say 169 to 100 to 394 and take the Henn/Lyn exit but from what i hear, that exit is closed. If you can get to maybe 7th/4th st exit or the 4th st exit that takes you near the Twins stadium into downtown and take... More

Our 5 day visit, a quick recap (2 Replies)
Mom, dad, daughter and her college friend for five nights in mid-May. The light rail was easy to use and fun; cabs relatively available on the street but carry cab co tele numbers just in case; the Skyways are where all the action is, but they seemed to be closed late at night; the Local was an big, funn pub; Mall of America was nothing but a big mall with a little amusement park but a great aquarium; Bryant Lake Bowling was unique, cool theater and bowling; subsequent walk from bowling to...More

A trip report of sorts--a long, long story. (5 Replies)
After three trips to Minneapolis this year, and with several more in our future, it seemed time to write a little something. Here's the full story: We are a couple of middle-aged Midwesterners with one child left at home. It is hard to find the time and money to travel extensively, but we have managed over the last five years to visit several of America's great cities. We love any form of public transportation as we have none here and are easily entertained with good food and a nice walk. ...More

I don think metro transit is improving as they get farther past the initial test-the-water phase of light rail. They have been an organization that has not focused enough on users coming from out of town. The focus has always seemed to be on transportation to serve the local population and reduce traffic. And that's all well and good. But they should be making visitors' needs a priority, including (as you say) making passes purchaseable at the airport and on the light rail platforms. But...More

Thanks to all who provided suggestions for our recent visit to Minneapolis. My conference at the convention center went well and we had time to explore the city. Visited the Sculpture Garden, Loring Park, Guthrie Theater (Endless Bridge and Amber Room had excellent views), Mill City Museum, walked the Heritage Trail along the Mississippi to see St. Anthony Falls and saw a barge going through the locks, attended Mass at the Basilica of St. Mary, walked Nicollet Mall and ate outside several...More

Sorry to hear about the falls. It's been that way for months, unfortunately. Driest summer I can remember. Although we just got about 6 hours of rain. That should restock the creek. It's quite a magnificent sight after a nice rain.
