Located next to the Kenwood restaurant is this little, comfortable gem of an independent bookstore owned by a favorite author, Louise Erdrich. It is about books but also about respect for Native Americans. It may be a local treat in a beautiful neighborhood, but it is also a destination worth seeking out. What a great place to spend time exploring books and many other things.…

Maybe it's just me, but I felt like I was in a sacred space in this bookstore, owned by Louise Erdrich, Native American author of many books. The store sells cards, American Indian music, puzzles, Native jewelry and birchbark baskets, Native foods, as well as books. Although there may be more space in the store devoted to books by non-native authors, the place seemed infused with books only by and about Native Americans: fiction, poetry, history, language learning, cookbooks - it was a relief to see how many books about Native American topics exist. The store is so comfortable. Easy chairs are spaced throughout the store, the old wooden floors softly creak, and the staff have done a wonderful job of providing short reviews of many books, leading you to hidden gems you might not even glance at. They will mail your books at a media rate which is super inexpensive. If you are a reader and a book aficionado, you will love this store!…

What a selection of Louise Erdrich's best reads: you really feel her spirit here, her wellreadness, her essential generosity of spirit and curiosity. Lots of great history books, Native American, American Indian studies, extremely concise selection of fiction and poetry... like someone extremely well read's personal library.…

I was thrilled to find this independent bookstore owned by one of my favorite authors--Louise Erdrich. What a pleasure to go through the fine thoughtful selections. I really enjoyed the reviews posted by the books. I was awed to read book reviews hand written by Louise Erdrich herself. The staff was very helpful and willing to answer my many questions. There is a confessional booth art display that drew my attention and curiosity. It was a story of its own. The bookstore was a little less than a mile walk from the bus stop. But it was a lovely walk around an in town lake and historic houses. Don't miss this amazing bookstore!!!…

I had heard about this bookstore-owned by Louise Erdrich and set out to find it. It is in a lovely picturesque area of Minneapolis. Neighborhood appeal. Not your all round Barnes and Noble type--aimed more at native American books and other interesting areas. Interior is absolutely charming. Small and lovely and inviting. I would absolutely recommend visiting this sweet bookstore.…
