I went to watch my nephew play his Bass in support of Janis Joplin last Saturday night, and had a great time. First of all, the Happy Birthday Janis Joplin band did not disappoint, but neither did First Ave! This is a spacious venue, with...More

A friend and I traveled to Minneapolis to visit Paisley Park. Of course, we needed to see a concert at First Avenue. We saw Lissie perform and loved the venue. It's small, but there are many great places to stand to see. Restrooms are plentiful...More

Awesome concert venue! It's standing room only on the main floor (there are a few tables near the back, but you cannot see the stage from there). No need to get there super early because there's hardly a bad spot to see the stage (aside...More

At first we had a hard time finding it. after a couple times around the block we figured it out. The stars names are plenty but I only was interested in the gold Prince star! We went into the bar next door. we had lunch...More

If you are a Prince fan you must stop at First Ave. so much history where the Minneapolis sound was born! You will recognize the bar, stage, balconies, etc from Purple Rain.

I adore the venue, have my whole life! And if you love Halloween/to costume watch, this is the place to go on Halloween night! Great vibes, the most out of the box, fun costumes, and awesome dance music!

To be perfectly frank, my interest in this place begins and ends with the stars mural, the golden Prince Star, to put a finer point on it. I'm not a big fan of Prince's music, but I was glad to see this symbol honoring a...More

Full disclosure: we did not do anything inside this venue. But I didn’t want to give a low rating for my non-participation. However, I do want to rate this in terms of a landmark. The outside of this building has painted stars for artists/performers who...More

I have seen many acts at First Ave. over the years from Rebelution to Mason Jennings to Umphrey's McGee and it's always a great show! The sound, the energy, the light show and the vibe all contribute to a memorable sonic experience!

Everything has changed around it but First Ave remains one of the best places to see live music in the Midwest in my opinion. Some of the charm is gone but theirs still good sight lines and the sound folks are pros. It's gone from...More

I believe they are only open during shows/events. The wall of stars is on the outside of the building though so it’s still worth stopping by!
