My sole purpose for going here was to see where Prince started his career, to see where Purple Rain was filmed and to see Princes Gold Star. I didn't go in to see a concert or the venue though I would love to. I hope to on my next trip back to Minneapolis. This was definitely one of my favorite... More

I finally got to see the venue in which Purple Rain was filmed! The history here is palpable. The energy was just adrenaline inducing. I was fortunate enough to get tickets for one of The Revolution's Prince Tribute Show. It looked pretty much just like it did in the movie. The general admission main floor has no seating, so if... This place has tons of rock history especially with Prince and The Replacements. However, it's still relevant today with new bands at the main room and 7th St. Entry.

Of course, the past few times I have been here have all been related to Prince events but this past weekend I saw The Revolution in concert and I am so impressed with the whole event, from checking ID while in line, to the pat downs and purse checks. I always felt safe and secure. Not to mention, the energy,... More

Sure, I could write a one-star review of the 7th Street Entry. GG Allin in the 80's, a surly bartender in the 90's--but nothing equals this Midwestern Mecca for live music venues. First Ave has endured for decades and hopefully shall continue. Great sound system. The Entry--a great armpit for amazing shows. This is like reviewing the Grand Canyon. It's... More

The best place to experience music in a non-arena setting and meet the band at the merch table. The music is loud and mix is more hit than miss. Arrive at doors open time and get a front row place or balcony seat (they go fast). Plenty of watering holes and be amazed by the beer man who walks around... More

I recently took my daughter to a meet and greet event for the Dolan Twins at this venue. The staff brought out water for for the girls (mostly pre-teens and teens) who were waiting outside in the summer weather to get inside for the show. They came several times to refill as well. The staff was well organized and very... More

Very historical place to visit. The club that was featured in Purple Rain and made Prince a musical phenom. All shows were sold out during my visit, so I didn't get a chance to fully experience the club.

The area around First Ave is really fun by itself. Target Center and Field are both easy to get to, there was a cool Irish bar we went to before our concert, and after we went walking and found a couple of really cool bars ... right downtown ! The venue itself was really cool, and seemed perfectly set up... More
