Lake Calhoun is part of the Chain of Lakes system in the inner city of Minneapolis. It is the largest of the seven lakes in the chain. The bike and walking paths around the perimeter of the lake are more than three miles in length. There were four beach areas around the lake and appeared to be very popular with... More

This is one of several lakes inMinneapolis Minnesota which you can circumnavigate on foot, bike, or wheelchair. Also, you can walk your dog/could walk you! There are plenty of benches around it to make it easier for the slow/impaired walker. On the Southern shore you can stop and have a picnic, or play volleyball. Although parking by that shore is... This is a beautiful urban lake You can walk, bike, skate or drive all the way around. There are options at the northeast corner of the lake to rent boats. It also has swimming areas. Lovely.

I was hesitant at first knowing the walk around the lake was three miles, but there were plenty of benches to stop and rest along the way. Good paved walking pathogens whole way, with a clean porta potty halfway around and a very good ice cream snack stand at the end. The walk is beautiful all the way around.

Summers are short for Minneapolis residents so they love to get their exercise by using the lake paths to work out, hike, jog and just enjoy beautiful homes along the way. You can take a brisk walk, and cover the entire lake in 75 minutes, 90 if you stop for an ice-cream to reward yourself. Great way to spend an... More

I like to meet a girlfriend here to eat at Tin Fish and walk. We just use the trails but there are beaches and play grounds too. There are pay lots but some free parking too.

Lake Calhoun is great, but busy on the weekends. There is something for everyone...walking, biking, kayaking, sailing, swimming, fishing, picnicking, Frisbee, people watching and getting a bite to eat at the Tin Fish. You can rent paddle boats, canoes, etc. and get an awesome fish taco.

Beautiful sunny Mid-August jog around Lake Calhoun on a Sunday morning. Just about 5K to run around the lake. Super packed w/runners, walkers, and lake visitors. Good to see so many people getting fit. I like the fact there are two trails...one for runners/walkers and one for bikes/roller blades.
