Joyful kayaking!

I've kayaked the chain of lakes 20+ times....with a partner, with a group of 11 boats, and by myself. Each wonderful for their own reasons. The best approach is to rent a kayak... read more

I've kayaked the chain of lakes 20+ times....with a partner, with a group of 11 boats, and by myself. Each wonderful for their own reasons. The best approach is to rent a kayak at Lake Calhoun, near the Tin Fish cafe. Or if you have your own kayak, there's a good sandy place to launch from in the same area.... More

Right in the middle of the city you find three+ major lakes that offer beaches, playgrounds, walking and biking paths, food service, rental bikes, sailing, canoeing, nighttime free concerts. This is a great place to spend a day for visitors to Minneapolis. This is not a tourist attraction, but a place where people who live in Minneapolis go. You can... More

While visiting the Minneapolis area my wife wanted to see the Chain of Lakes. We did a driving tour. Unfortunately it started to rain quite heavily, so we didn't get out and walk any of the trails. Series of 5 lakes I believe. All a little different, but all have walking/biking trails all the way around each. Also what was... More

I've been living in Australia for over 20 years in both Sydney and Melbourne. Nothing beats Minneapolis in terms of quality of life in my view. Having grown up in the Chain of Lakes area I have nothing but found memories of this area.

This is a relaxing spot to kayak or paddle board on a sunny day. You get to see some beautiful houses as you go through the narrow waterways joining the lakes. You can also rent water craft if you don't own on Lake Calhoun.

The chain of lakes are perfect for walking, biking, or running. You can kayak, canoe, paddleboat, sail, or stand up paddle board on these lakes as well. There are rental areas if you need equipment. Lake Calhoun also has a lakeside restaurant where you can get food and drinks. There are several beaches where you can enjoy lovely views of... More

The Minneapolis Chain of Lakes is a great place to walk, run or bike around for sure, but it's also a great place to just hang out for a while and people watch too! There are kayak and canoe rentals at Calhoun lake which I believe accesses Lake of the Isles, via a waterway. Lake of the Isles is quieter,... More

The chain of lakes is made up of Lake Harriet at south end, lake Calhoun & Lake of Isles. Harriet is the most beautiful with some fabulous housing. There's a bike & walking track around the lake which is under 3 miles. At the north east corner there's rental stands, a stage & seating & cafe. Calhoun is busy with... More

The lakes are beautiful, so see them all by biking on the Grand Round /Minnehaha Parkway Trail. The trails circle around the lakes as well as connect between them.
