A Must See
May 2021
Beautiful Falls and Park. Take a moment to stop here when visiting Minneapolis! You can grab lunch or dinner at Sea Salt Eatery. In the Summer you can listen to live music in the park!

Scenic waterfall in the heart of Minneapolis
Apr 2021
The Minnehaha Falls are a part of the larger Minnehaha Park. The park overall is pretty big and there is abundant parking available along the main road (with very reasonable hourly prices). The falls itself is a short walk and there are multiple points from which the falls are clearly visible. There are steps leading to the bottom of the falls - it isn't too steep and is suited for people of all ages. The view of the falls from the bottom was magnificent. Unlike some other falls, it is not possible to go extremely close to the falls (or go behind the falls or anything), the viewing area is a few feet from the falling water. Near the steps to go down to the falls, there was a nice eatery that was crowded with patrons on a sunny spring evening when we visited. There are some structures of historical significance along or adjacent to the park grounds including the Minnehaha Train Depot and the Longfellow House. The falls and the beautiful Minnehaha Park, with its lush trails are definitely must visit when in the Twin Cities.

Small waterfall in a big park
Sep 2020 • Family
Minnehaha Falls are in a pretty big park and can be a little tricky to find.

The park is nice though, so you won’t mind wandering around trying to find the waterfall.

It can make for a nice introduction to the Twin Cities for first time visitors or a nice change of pace for frequent visitors.

The waterfall won’t blow you away, as it’s not huge. It’s still a pretty sight, however, and makes for a nice visit.

Me, I love chasing waterfalls of all shapes and sizes, so this was a must-stop when I was passing through the Twin Cities.

Scenic Waterfall
May 2020
Scenic spot to enjoy nature in the middle of the city. See the Falls from above but also follow the trail down to the base of the Falls. The trail continues for a half-mile along Minnehaha Creek where it empties into the Mississippi River.

Worth a visit
Sep 2020
There is plenty of parking around the falls. There is free parking in the Wabun picnic area and it's just a short walk through the park to the falls. There are lots of trails to follow and lots of space so social distancing is very easy.

Get out of the house!

What a great hike in the cities to see a natural beauty of a waterfall and where one piece meets the Mississippi River. I can see how this can become crowded, but if you’re looking to stay close to home or visit state parks ~ this has some great views. Good for all ages!

at any point in the year Minnehaha Falls is worth a visit, when it's raging in spring with snow melt waters or in the fall when the autumn colors are in full bloom

Great exercise

The falls are nice and the park is great! However, after Niagara, Multnomah and Taquamenon Falls they’re nice but not spectacular. It was a great hike.
