We spent Thursday-Sunday camping at Blue Mounds. We were coming from the Twin Cities, and on the way there I started second guessing this destination after driving through endless corn fields and small towns. Once we arrived in Luverne I started to think that the trip would be manageable with a decent-sized town around in case the park was a... More

Nice trails for walking, beautiful scenery. Our first trip to Minn. We didn't see any buffalo, but really enjoyed the walk and scenery, took a lot of pictures. We felt like we could touch the sky.

The main campground is crowded and open, but the privacy of the walk/cart in sites are worth the effort for tent camping. Carts with bicycle style wheels are available for use, but using backpacks when possible cuts down trips to and from the parking lot. Our site #12 was about a quarter mile from the parking lot, and about the... More

We enjoyed our stay here, kids loved it and the weather was agreeable. It cost too much to stay though and the issue with the water is not only unfortunate but unacceptable. Yeah the runoff from farms has happened... but it needs to be stopped and fixed.

It's a nice place for hiking, getting some fresh air and being alone with your thoughts. Nothing majestic, but worth it to spend a few hours.

We booked one night in advance and arrived on a summer Monday at 3pm to an empty ranger station and a note saying all water at the park tested positive for bacteria. We checked our site which was adjacent a marsh/standing water/mosquito hatchery. We pulled out twenty minutes later and grabbed a $60 room at Hillcrest Motel and went swimming... More

camped 2 nights, staff was very accommodating given the water concerns. we hiked most of the trails in the park. the loop out to the old quarry was a nice trek. got to see some rock climbers there too. also took the creek trail on the opposite side of the creek from the campground. would've been nice if that was...
