My wife and 3 kids (9,11,13) rented a yurt in Cuyuna State Rec Area. Highly recommend for mountain biking. Excellent trails and tons of fun. All level of trails, though maybe not right for little tiny guys. The yurt was rustic but comfortable. Expect mosquitos...More

Signage isn't great and you check in in town, not the site. Group Campsite was nice. Lovely pond, but the frogs are nocturnal and noisy! Tour of the mines was really good. Be sure to go. Don't wear white, the iron in the soil stains...More

Participated in the 45NRTH Whiteout fat tire race. The trails were well groomed and the course fun to ride. Rode the trails on the Sagamore trail for the event. Beautiful terrain and park is well maintained. Volunteers in the area are helpful and kind.

Beautiful hiking and biking trails around the old mine pits. Hiking trails are paved and easy walking. This area also offers camping. The mine pits are water filled now and offer great birding and recreation.

I don't recommend staying at the yurts during summer months. The mosquito were awful. It is difficult to access the small lake by the yurts. The yurts themselves are cute, but not ideal for summer sleeping. The yurts should have been placed over by the...More

We were surprised to find this charming campground right outside of Ironton, MN. The campground needs some TLC. The bathrooms are old and need to be updated, but because we are self-contained we didn't have to use them. The sites were nice because they are...More

Cuyuna's mountain biking trails are incredible!! Fun, challenging, well mapped out. Trails are colour coded based on skill level on the map sort of like a ski resort. There literally something for all levels of riders. Numbered markers on the trails make it easy to...More
