Loved it

Visited with friends and family with young kids. They loved it and I’m not afraid to say as a 27 year old man I loved it too😂 bring the family and kids, they’ll have a cracking time!

A lovely place to visit
Oct 2020
Can’t recommend this place enough. Staff are so friendly and helpful, making these times feel a lot less strange while keeping everyone safe. The animals are just beautiful and so gentle, including a rescued fallow deer. My 2 year old loves feeding them all and really enjoys spending time with the rabbits and chickens in pets corner. There is also a big sandpit and outdoor play area which is a bonus for little ones. Go and enjoy!

Scotty's donkeys

The animal park is what you would expect for a £5 entry. You can feed the animals with hay at £1 a bag. We had an hour there walking around the animals.

Morning visit.
Aug 2020 • Family
Great local attraction, with £5 admission fee which is worth it.
You can go round as many times as you like as they are operating a one way system. Lots of goats, sheep, donkeys and a few other types of animals. There is a nice picnic area which my wife said had a bouncy castle there on her last visit over a year ago. I suppose Covid has placed a lot of restrictions on these attractions.
If you haven't bought any food with you there is always Apply Farm Cafe just to the left when you come out.

What to do in the summer holidays??
Aug 2020 • Family
Went on a whim with a family member and friends, inc young children.
Price had been reduced I’m presuming due to Covid and no donkey rides.
Situated at the back of Apley farm shop, nice little petting zoo with seating area for food.
You can buy animal feed on entrance. There are plenty of rabbits and chickens that you can stroke and goats, pony, donkey (only saw 2) to feed plus a few other animals dotted a around.
We spent about 3 hours there but took our lunch with us which we ate under cover as it was a hot day.
There’s a sand pit and a few plastic cars for the smaller ones to play on.
Plenty of hand washing stations around too.
Decent size car park. Farm shop and few other little shops on site also.
We would’ve loved to have done the maize maze but at an additional £6pp this was a total rip off, they are missing out on a trick here as I would be prepared to pay about £2pp and probably so would most people!!
A nice day out, animals looked well cared for but wouldn’t return as it’s not the kind of place for the money it costs to be able to do it.

Not worth the money.
Feb 2020 • Family
Visited February and disappointed to see the high prices charged which do not include the donkey rides and feed.
We arrived as the farm opened for the day.
The animal enclosure’s are very clean and easy for access. Plenty of opportunities to wash hands as you walk around. It’s very open so windy and cold you need to wrap up warm.
What I didn’t like was the play area. No care had been taken to make sure toys were not full of rain water. Toys had been just left out in all weathers. I appreciate for example that little tykes cars stand up to hard lots of use but it doesn’t take long to check they are clean in a morning. Large five in a row game was leant up a fence with the hoops dirty all over the floor.
The sand put had broken spades. If you are charging entry then care should be given to all areas of the attraction.

Is it a donkey?

This is place is incredible. Such a great find.

You can easily spend a half day here or longer. Everything is set up so well. We took our lad on his first donkey ride and he loved it. Really clean too with wash stations all over.

Can’t rate this place high enough

very nice day out
Aug 2019
Took my 2 grandsons to Roddys and it was a most enjoyable day for them.Admission wasn't too dear, but they should update their website as it was far more than advertised, although still acceptable. The little pettng zoo was a great hit,and all the animals we saw on the way round were friendly and looked well cared for.Staff were great and the play area and picnic site were good.Cafe was a little pricey but the meals were huge,I had a ploughmans lunch and couldn't believe the size of it,just would have liked crusty bread instead of slices. The boys had chicken nuggets and chips and couldn't finish them.It was also very clean and tidy.We spent about 4hrs. there altogether and would definitely recommend it.Oh yes, donkey ride was great for kids as well.

Brilliant Day!
Jul 2018 • Family
Visited Scotty’s Donkeys and Apley Farm Shop last week. Absolutely brilliant! I went with my 2 year old and she was in her element! You get to go in the pens with the chickens, guinea pigs, rabbits and tortoises and feed them. You also get to feed the goats, sheep, alpacas, pigs and the deer. There are also cows, horses and of course donkeys you can pet. Donkey rides are available too. The park has a great picnic area if you want to take a picnic, with 2 large bouncy castles and a covered sand pit for the kids to play in. There are also toy ride on tractors and karts for the kids. Absolutely great value for money! You are able to purchase the animal feed at the desk (50p per cup - and there’s a decent amount in each one) and your ticket allows you in and out the animal park as many times you want that day. We visited the cafe for lunch (which was fantastic!) and the farm shop too, which had loads of lovely stuff. There’s also a pottery place, a gift shop and a soft play area too though we didn’t visit these bits. Overall I recommend this place! The staff are so lovely and friendly and can tell the animals are so well cared for! There is loads of parking available and looks as though they do teddy bear picnics and a giant maze for the kids during the school holidays. Brilliant place and excellent value for money!
