I decided to visit the Riverfront Park on a nice Fall weekend. The walking trail overlooking Mississippi river was not just a photo-op but an opportunity to connect with nature without driving out of town!
The only 'negative': The river flows adjacent to a major highway. One can continue to hear the din of highway traffic on the nature-trail

This park has an asphalt path which is a popular for walking and biking. According to a map I saw, you can walk from here to the Islands of Peace. It has a play ground and a pavilion. I have seen people fishing in the Mississippi River. There is also an old farmhouse which is more like a mansion that can be reserved for those special occasions. There are woods on the river side and woods or an open area on the other side of the path. The picnic pavilions can be reserved for a fee. Parking is free at this park.
