My daughter and I booked a full day guided canoe trip. What a perfect day we had with Jake as our guide! He tailored the guide to our interests and abilities, which we really appreciated. His knowledge of the area is immense.... we learned so much about this breathlessly beautiful wilderness. They will provide a lunch upon request, which was adequate. We also stayed at their short-term rental home, The Sheridan House. This was a great place to stay! So VERY clean with many added amenities and very affordable. The Hways are excellent hosts. We highly recommend you book with Way To Go Canoe Outfitters!

My friends and I are adventurous, but without a doubt we are city kids. Only one of the four of us had experienced the BWCA prior, so we opted for a full-day guided tour with Jake and Riley. We ended up choosing the largest canoe that could fit all five of us adults plus Riley, and we couldn't have been happier with that. We covered more ground thanks to Jake - who did literally ALL of the heavy lifting. I think we covered 11 miles, 5 lakes and 9 portages. We were worried about being "stuck" with a guide all day, and were immediately relieved of that worry because Jake let us have our friends day together, and only added to the experience with his knowledge and know-how. He guided and narrated the day, but yet it was ours. From the planning stages, I had called a couple of outfitters and Donna and Jeff were the only ones who were immediately responsive, thorough, and talked to me in a way I could understand, as a first-timer. They were wonderful all the way through. If you are a dog-lover, the cherry on top of the whole experience (besides Riley) was talking to Jake about his sled dogs - and then meeting them! I highly recommend Way To Go, and in fact I can't wait to return to the BWCA and try out a true camping trip!

Our family of four (2 adults, an 11 year-old and a 9 year-old) booked a half-day guided tour of the BWCA with WAY TO GO in August 2020 and honestly could not have been happier. They were so accommodating, and fit us in with only one day’s notice. Jake, our guide, was great! He explained the mechanics of canoeing well, and provided us with a steady stream of all of the types of information we were interested in. One of the stops he planned for us included a short hike to an abandoned logging camp, and I can’t say enough about that! You can’t go wrong with WAY TO GO! 🌲🛶

This family run operation has everything you'd want in a Boundary Waters outfitter: friendly and responsive service, outstanding well chosen and well maintained gear, superb advice and planning, and fair prices. My family just returned from a terrific week in the Boundary Waters and the support we received from Way to Go couldn't have been better. The gear was in new or nearly new condition and of top quality. It was also carefully chosen, so you had everything you needed but nothing that would add unnecessary weight. The food menu was varied, thoughtful, and of high quality and we enjoyed great meals throughout the trip. Jake and Jeff provided great feedback on route ideas based on deep experience in the BWCA and knowledge of current conditions (e.g. we got a heads up about a wasp nest near a portage) that ended up meeting all of my family's expectations: a challenging and varied route (60 miles and 20+ portages) that was doable and enjoyable for all. They also carefully allocated the gear among differently sized packs that were tailored to each member of our family -- from our 12 year old daughter to our sons in their early 20's. They were well organized, gave us a great briefing on our gear, fishing, portaging, and other tips. Their bunkroom the night before was perfect and they have sensible COVID-19 measures in place. Checkout was hassle free with no nickle/diming on charges, and some gifts thrown in to boot. If you're already on this page, your search for an outfitter is done. Thank you Donna, Jeff, and Jake for a fabulous family trip -- we hope to be back again soon!

Great experience on the boundary waters. Jake and JSR pointed out interesting things throughout the terrain with the plants and wildlife, had interesting knowledge of the history of the boundary waters. Everything was absolutely pristine and beautiful, didn't have to look at any copper/nickel mining operations which was great! Look forward to returning and wouldn't hesitate to go with these guys.
