We arrived on a Saturday afternoon. Park staff were friendly and knowledgeable! Weather was gorgeous, about 70 degrees and sunny. We were in campsite #2. Campsite was full - lots of families, groups of fisherman, etc. Our kids, 8 & 4, enjoyed this trip immensely....More

Would give the place 5 stars but the place was very busy with campers. This is what to expect though at peak tourist season. Very beautiful park!!

We visited the park in October and there were not many people. Very good sites. Easy to rent a boat and a trolling motor. You can change battery if needed during your rent period. Mature pine trees and fresh air is a big plus! Ely...More

What a great place to visit for those who enjoy nature. It's a wilderness wooded area that encompasses a couple lakes with very well maintained roads and a trail head log building that looks like it should be in architecture digest. This building is fully...More

Beautiful park and scenery, we had good weather and the bugs were mostly non-existent. The handicap toilet was out of order the whole Labor Day weekend and we had to wait to use the facilities many times.

The Campsites are a little small and close together but once we went out on the hiking trails and kayaking it felt like we had the park to ourselves.

We camped at Bear head lake state park in site 25. We would not choose this site again as it is on a corner and a little noisy and not as secluded as others. We would choose sites 55, 39 or 58. Bear head lake...More

This is a great state park. Getting a campsite online, renting a canoe, getting firewood, having a good place to park the car--all this was so easy, hard to believe. The staff people at the park are nice and helpful, and we went from the...More

We live about 45 minutes away from Bear Head Lake State Park and prefer to go there as the water is clear and clean. It is a great place to go to have a picnic lunch, walk the trails and go for a swim.

I'm sorry but I do not know. The Ranger at the front desk was helpful and they should know. We hiked by one of the group sites, but did not look around.

Thank you for your interest. All of the remote sites at Bear Head Lake State Park have wilderness style latrines. Meaning it is a toilet riser in the woods without walls or toilet paper provided. All the remote sites also... More
