The Campsites are a little small and close together but once we went out on the hiking trails and kayaking it felt like we had the park to ourselves.

We camped at Bear head lake state park in site 25. We would not choose this site again as it is on a corner and a little noisy and not as secluded as others. We would choose sites 55, 39 or 58. Bear head lake has much water available nearby to fish and kayak. Two trout lakes Cub and Norberg... More

This is a great state park. Getting a campsite online, renting a canoe, getting firewood, having a good place to park the car--all this was so easy, hard to believe. The staff people at the park are nice and helpful, and we went from the entrance to being on the lake in about a half hour. The eagles were completely... More

We live about 45 minutes away from Bear Head Lake State Park and prefer to go there as the water is clear and clean. It is a great place to go to have a picnic lunch, walk the trails and go for a swim.

We spend a lot of time in Minnesota State Parks, this was our first visit to Bear Head. I did make our reservation in early April, was not able to get a full week without moving sites, so we chose Monday through Saturday for our trip. We arrived at the park, excited for our stay. We could not believe the... More

We stayed for a week in the guest house. There were 10 of us at $130 a day so it was very affordable. The house had plenty of room and was comfortable. My sister and I hiked every morning on the various trails at Bear Head S.P. There are some beautiful sights of the various lakes. The bugs were basically... More

We love this park! It books up quickly for the summer, but it never feels crowded. There is so much to do! Rent canoes, boats, and/or paddleboards. Borrow a FREE fishing or birding kit for the day. Excellent hiking on maintained trails with beautiful views. Nice beach with shaded picnic area close to a gorgeous trail head center. Trail head... More

The camp sites are small and more exposed than I expected, but the park is nice. You can rent paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, or row boats. There are several places to fish from shore and a nice beach area. There are lots of walking or biking trails.

This is one of my two favorite MN State Parks (Other is Jay Cooke). Campground: Awesome Fishing: Solid Ghost of Rick James sightings: Very few. Hiking trails: Very awesome! Refrigerator Magnets: Abundant! Mosquitoes: None! I'm not sure if it was just this park or we hit an anomaly with when we went (Early Aug, 2015), but there was no mosquitoes!... More

Camping here was great! The campsites have a good amount of ground cover aside from the trees allowing each campsite to have some privacy (more than 1 would normally get using a drive in campsite)! The restrooms were very well maintained and multiple bathrooms with showers available throughout the park grounds. We spent time enjoying the beach they have, which... More
