The course was maintained as well as a private club, tees were perfect and flat, fairways and greens immaculate. The greens were especially challenging with undulation and speed. The fees are on the high end for a public golf course but the only real criticism was the pro shop personnel. Not friendly, not efficient.

The 9 hole "executive" course is terrific - far better than most such courses. This one winds through woods, and has a lot of up and down. Some really dramatic holes. Cost is reasonable and it's justifiably popular.

It also has some of the very large holes that have been developed for beginners to golf.

There also is a very highly rated traditional golf course.

Extensive practice facilities.

There also is an ok restaurant at the main club house (Tin Fish)

Good public golf course. I just played the course for the 1st time since the new renovation from the championship tees on Friday 4-16. The 1st nine were a delight with 6 pars for a outgoing 41 but the 2nd 9 holes were a significant challenge for my 1st round of the season. Overall, I loved the new course. The play was a little slow and wished the rangers were out on the course but that is a small complaint for a fun day. The staff were helpful and friendly; and booking a tee time in their new website is very easy to use. I highly recommend a visit if you want to play a challenging round with 6 sets of tee boxes for all levels of play. As the course natural grass sets in couple of years and some final improvements on few of the holes -- this will be an awesome public course in the Minneapolis area.

They used to have 27 holes and most people didn't like the "new nine" (holes 19-27)...so they remodeled and when back to a standard 18 holes. With all that land to work with, they still couldn't come up with a decent layout. They should have just closed the "new" nine and called it a day because the original 18 was fine, whereas this was a waste of money. The front nine is fine, fairly benign and quite walkable. The back nine is sloped between 10 and 22 points harder depending on the tee, so it is not a consistent 18 hole experience unless you change the set of tees you play from (at least there are six choices). The back nine has some very long carries and ridiculously steep hills making it difficult to walk, especially when most others take carts. Definitely not worth $52 (18 holes, walking); unless you happen to land near a sprinkler head, good luck finding a yardage marker. There isn't even GPS on the carts--I guess you're supposed to download an app. If I go back it will only be to play the front nine. At least the driving range is still good. Otherwise I'll stick with Brookview in Golden Valley--a better value ($42) and much nicer facilities.

This course is just ok. The fees are higher than I would expect for a course of this quality. When we arrived, we went to the club house to pay and get a few items. The employees behind the counter were younger and seemed very pompous. Once we got our cart, we went on to our tee time. The whole time we were playing, we were being watched by staff members. Any time we went off the cart path, we were told to get back on the path. It was like an army of them telling all the people trying to enjoy themselves. The fairways are nice, but the greens are VERY inconsistent. Some were very hard and the ball rolled forever, while some were like mush and the ball barely moved. Overall, it was a nice course, but I won’t play here again until the course is in better condition.

I've been playing Braemar for over 40 years. Was a great course with the 3 nines but this new layout is a major disappointment. Okay, so maybe I'm old fashioned and don't like change. I understand that the course was going to be torn up anyway requiring a new sprinkler system replacing the 40-year old one but why tear down a beautiful 27-hole course and cut down over 300 trees to make it into a links type course? What city-official came up with that goofy idea and at what cost? I'd like to see those numbers. These kinds of decisions are typical of municipal- and city-owned-and-run courses where some bureaucrat determines what gets done and the patrons have little or no say. The greens don't hold, although I'm told over time they need to settle in and they apparently planted a number of new trees but I'll be dead and long gone before those mature. Should have left well-enough alone and just replaced the sprinkler system IMHO.

Staff is friendly and the driving range is still nice. Only thing I like are the new expanded practice areas for chipping and sand traps. The putting green is still the same nice practice area.

We wanted to do something outside for Father's Day, and one of my sons proposed golf. We are casual players, at best. We went online and found a tee time 2 hours hence.
We arrived a little early to warm up on the driving range.
Everything was smooth and friendly. Executive par 3 9 hole course. We played scramble.
Great time!
