History comes alive on the Lakefront line of the North Shore Scenic Railroad! During our summer season several trains a day depart the historic Duluth Union Depot for a trip through downtown Duluth, Canal Park, along the shore of Lake Superior and deep into the majestic north woods. Fully narrated tours tell the history of Duluth, the harbor, and the stories of the railroads that built northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Took a train ride with my infant son, seven year old niece and my Mom. We all had a blast and will definitely return for another ride with the rest of the family.

Nice sightseeing ride. The train consists of several different passenger cars so they are all somewhat unique. The tour we went on was about 75% full so there were plenty of seats available and room to move around. Many people, including us, would ride in...More

We went on a rainy day (nothing else to do). We didn't pay for the glass top car, just a regular ticket - part of the "Must see Duluth Pass". Nice ride - interesting variety of old railroad cars. Not really exciting scenery - mostly...More

Nice to sit back, relax, and enjoy the view without exhausting myself. It was nice to let someone else navigate after driving a long way.

We have been on 6 different train rides in different parts of the country this by far was the worst. Engineer was not very at hooking and unhooking. It was billed as scenic but for 85% of the trip all you could see was trees....More

We took our mothers on the mystery train ride for their birthdays we had so much fun lots of laughs. The food was excellent. Worth every penny. The actors really made us feel apart of the story and the audience was involved AWESOME

Staffed by the nicest volunteers. Pay the extra for First Class and enjoy the AC and the glass domed elevated viewing area.

We enjoyed the train ride today; the locals are very committed to keeping it alive. It is a 90 minute tour that rides along Lake Superior, as well as a little history of Duluth. You can purchase snacks and drinks on the ride. Pretty views.

This experience is more about traveling by train then about the scenery. One side of the train sees only city views and the lakeshore side gets a few glimpses of the lake and the walking trail. The train just brings the engine around to the...More

It really depends- If you go to the Visit Duluth site they have a link to a DNR site that notes the peak time. Right now they are at 50-75% peak- and depending on the weather they may be past prime. However- even if they... More

I doubt it and didn't see any dogs. The staff and volunteers at the Railroad are very approachable and would be able to answer your question by e-mail or phone
