History comes alive on the Lakefront line of the North Shore Scenic Railroad! During our summer season several trains a day depart the historic Duluth Union Depot for a trip through downtown Duluth, Canal Park, along the shore of Lake Superior and deep into the majestic north woods. Fully narrated tours tell the history of Duluth, the harbor, and the stories of the railroads that built northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.

There may have been some delay for start of the train ride on old equipment but the chance to revisit a 1960, 1950 and 1935 passenger car was fun and a chance to think about how today's cars have evolved. The fun included being able...More

A pleasant excursion taking you back to a iMessage when we did' have the "hurry" disease. Lots of history and amazing architecture. Relaxing; excellent value

We had a wonderful time on the train! Our ride was 2 hours long and went to Lester Park. The narration was very informative and the scenery was beautiful! We enjoyed visiting the museum after the trip. Thanks for the fantastic memory😊

Huge disappointment. We thought we would see beautiful Lake Superior and scenic areas around it. However, except for perhaps 15 minutes (this is a stretch) of lake views, very scenic, we looked at trees, random Duluth neighborhoods, the highway and a pile of rocks, just...More

We took the train ride with our family on a beautiful June day. This ride gives you a view of so many interesting areas of Duluth. We even saw a deer 🦌 along the way. Suggestion- get there early and enjoy the museum also.

It can vary by trip, they have anywhere from 90 minutes to all day. The pizza and dinner train that we did leaves at 6:30 and is back around 9 pm. If you look on the website it shows the different run times.
