History comes alive on the Lakefront line of the North Shore Scenic Railroad! During our summer season several trains a day depart the historic Duluth Union Depot for a trip through downtown Duluth, Canal Park, along the shore of Lake Superior and deep into the majestic north woods. Fully narrated tours tell the history of Duluth, the harbor, and the stories of the railroads that built northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Went on the fall color tour to Two Harbors. First of all, be aware that 90% of this ride is looking at people's backyards and going through the trees, not along the lake at all. Second, I do not recommend seniors or handicap people attempt this, although this was our experience: a few miles outside of our destination we ended... More

Enjoyed our train ride on the North Shore Scenic Railroad last Saturday. I traveled with my husband and another couple. The conductor was friendly and informative. Stopped in Two Harbors for two hours where we had lunch. When we got back on the train to return, however, we had quite a long wait before the train moved to return. We... More

Family trip up the north shore on the train - 6 adults and 1 2 year old. Visit to the train museum was amazing - lots of history and friendly and informative museum hosts. Train ride was fun and comfortable. The narrated history of the north shore was informative. The snacks for sale on the train were reasonably priced. Had... More

The upgrade to the 1st class car was certainly worth it! We enjoyed the FULL view, tho the negative side to that was even with the air conditioning the car did seem a tad warm. The rockiness of the car was bit annoying at times, but that's train travel; we took it in stride. We appreciated the service in first... More

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time on this train trip. At an hour and a half long, it is perfect for the whole family if you are brining them, and gave us plenty of time to continue sightseeing in the afternoon. I loved the pre-recorded information along the route. This might be the first tour that I have... More

We rode in the first class car, which was very nice. I'm sensitive to motion sickness and barely made it through the trip, even facing forward. The tracks are old and uneven causing a constant sway.

My wife and I did the short 90 minute run yesterday. We will definitely come back for the long run. The lav in our car was broken and the food was typical vended fare. Not great, pretty ok...

My husband and I took our son and two of our teenage nieces on the Duluth Zephyr tour. We loved it, the kids loved it, and even commented that it was their favorite thing we did while visiting Duluth. The staff was wonderful both on and off the train. I highly recommend this!
