Interesting to watch!

We watched the lift bridge operate from several different spots and was fascinated!! The area is very nice to walk and with many restaurants around.

I took my 6 and 8 year old granddaughters on a little birthday trip. They were intrigued with the lift bridge and how it worked. They wanted to go over it so we drove out to Park Point and back. Unfortunately there wasn't much ship traffic so they didn't get to see the bridge in action.

We hadn't planned on stopping in Duluth but luckily it was at the end of Route 61 North Shore Scenic Drive that we took from Illgen City after visiting Ely MN. We had no idea how much history this town had in store for us or the number of things to do. We went to the Aerial Lift Bridge and... More

A great quick place to stop by the Duluth waterfront. Interesting displays and nice gift shop. Good way to spend an hour or so.

Nice to see the lift bridge but hang out in canal park and visit the shops and restaurants down there. Fun time with the family. Great places for photo's. Also the free maritime museum down there if nice to see.

The lift bridge is in many of my photos both day and night views. Walking across was very easy even though there wasn't much to see on the other side.

The Ariel Lift Bridge is unique in that it is not a typical draw bridge, which we have seen many of. The whole bridge is lifted to allow ships to pass beneath. We enjoyed watching the parade of Tall Ships pass as well as a Coast Guard ship when we were there in August. The drive across the bridge takes... More

We had never seen a bridge where the whole bridge rises and falls at different levels depending on the size of the boat, and there were some big ships that went through. Amazing!

I loved watching the bridge rising to let ships go through. The bridge operator is in the pilot house on top of the bridge riding up and down like an elevator. I found a couple of articles on the internet describing the operator job that were interesting.

It is really cool to see the ships move through the canal and watch the bridge go up and down. Seeing it at night is also very neat.
