- SueMinneapolis, Minnesota20 contributionsGreat entertainment for kids and familiesThe newly remodeled Bunker Beach (reopened summer 2021) is great. Love that the wave pool is a little warmer than before the remodel! Nice variety of water features for big and small kids to enjoy. The cafe menu is also good for a water park... sandwiches, pizza, burgers, corn dogs, pulled pork, ice cream treats and more. Definitely not a budget-friendly outing for a family (especially when you add food, beverages and tube rentals) but a fun summer splurge. I do wish they would offer season passes for families-- or maybe a discounted "group" punchcard that friends or family could share for the season... I would definitely go more often!Visited July 2021Written August 16, 2021
- Fizz4 contributions10 / 10, you NEED to visitOk lemme just say this place is amazing! We went on my brothers birthday and we had a blast, the employees are very friendly and did a very good job when we ordered a huge order from the cafe. The wave pool is nice because it operates on a 15 minute on 10 minute off cycle so it gives you some time to go deeper or shallower without waves splashing in your face and when it turns on the waves are so fun to play in. Another nice thing is the lazy river because it isn’t affected by safety breaks so if you are tired in the middle of a safety break just go to the lazy river. On a final note the slides are fast and fun! The tube ones by the lazy river are nice and twisty but the ones without tubes are where it’s at they have speed and you can use goggles.Visited July 2023Traveled with familyWritten July 17, 2023
- Bill LAndover, Minnesota38 contributionsGet the annual passOur teen enjoys going here frequently with friends. Patrons are decent and although has not had a remodel in awhile (planned for 2020) seems to be well maintained and popular. We opted for the annual pass as it is a good deal if you plan to go more than a few times.Visited September 2019Written January 8, 2020

We visited with our 12 and 14 year old, who just love this water park. My favourites about the park are
1. It’s large enough that’s there’s tons to do but small enough the kids can run around and you can always find them
2. The heated wave pool is amazing
3. All the different things to do (climbing wall, basketball nets, lazy river, many slides, wave pool, several splash pads, adventure pool for the kids).
4. Great value for money
5. Lots of picnic tables, lounge chairs and shaded areas (but being a beach umbrella as the shaded areas get taken)
6. Option to leave and come back in with a hand stamp
7. Eating areas outside the park for a picnic
Of note you can’t bring outside food into the park but they provide picnic tables just outside the park so you can pack a cooler and have a picnic. They do sell food in the park, hot dogs, fries, pizza, ice cream and such. It’s a bit over priced but always is inside parks.
The one pain is everyone hour they haul everyone out of the pools for 10 min and do a safety check and run through all the rules. But I guess it’s in the name of safety.

Our visit there was enjoyable though we had to park a good distance away from the park and walk all the way there . The lifeguards were decent but some of them seemed like they had an issue with some people . I do think that it was pretty expensive though (parking fee , tubes , admission was expensive) . We found a LIGHTER inside the wave pool . It wasn't like how people made it out to be but I would go again on a hot day .

READ THIS BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO GO TO BUNKER BEACH! $6 to park. There’s always a line to get in. And not just any line...an hour wait on cement with no shade, bathroom, and access to water. It was 90+ degrees the day we went and the ambulance came several times due to people passing out. Hey Bunker Beach...how about providing shade, a porta- potty, water stations, a sprinkler people can run through? Every pool closes every hour for 20+ min. Not sure why, but it was more waiting in the heat on hot cement. Like whistles? I hope so, because you’ll hear one every 20 seconds (no exaggeration). The arrogant, whistle-happy lifeguards will bust you if you’re walking too fast, sitting on ledges, having an inner tub, not having an inner tub, standing in the wrong spot, having too much fun, not having fun. It was ridiculous!! Good luck finding a locker or figuring out how to buy one ($10). I had to keep my wallet under a lawn chair praying no one would steel it. Tip: don’t bring any valuables in the park. You cannot bring in your own food so be prepared to wait in line for an hour for their overpriced concession stand food. Lots and lots of waiting. Along with seeing pools and water slides, you’ll also see tons of used bandaids, dirty diapers, and trash on the ground AND in the water. There’s not a lot of things to do so it gets boring fast. Staff are worthless. Park is dirty, over priced, and not conducive to safety. When we left, there was a news crew filming about the three people who left in an ambulance due to dehydration. There are so many other places to go to in the Twin Cities, don’t waste your time and money here.

This park is fun for children of all ages! It is easy to stay and play all day. Kids and water go so well together, it isn't even missing the sand. There is a great sand play area for kids to play in. There is a tot area that my children loved complete with water slides that they can go down alone. The wave pool for bigger kids is great too, but has always been chilly every time we have been there. My family and I are always careful to go on a really hot day though...not somewhere to go if it is only 75! The water in both pools don't seem to be heated so is much to cold to go then. There have actually been a couple of times we have had to leave because we thought it would be warm enough and the kids ended up shivering uncontrollably because the water was just too cold! I love it...just on really hot days!

This is the most crazy unsafe place for absolutely EVERYONE! Parent, don't drop any kid off ever, no should you come expecting to relax. The wave pool is 100% unsafe. Kids on inner tubes (costs extra), kids getting pushed under by inner tubes. Poor, poor kids - maybe they will drown while the high school life guards chat amongst themselves.
Pretty picture?

Overall we had a nice experience at Bunker Beach Water Park. This water park is apart of the Bunker Hiller Regional Park, the $5 parking fee is related to entering a regional park and should not be a complaint among other reviewers. All MN Regional Parks charge a fee to enter, we are proud of our parks up here!
Pros are as follows: Clean grounds, large park, Lifeguards were on task and we heard plenty of whistle blows (a good thing), great old fashioned ice-cream for $3 a cone, accepted both cash and credit cards, you could freely leave the park and come pack with a hand stamp, and great people watching. You do not have to rent a chair but if you come later in the day, be prepared not to find one.
Cons are as follows: Bathrooms are nasty. They were not checked at all through out the day and with some simple hourly checks, they should be cleaner. If you aren't 48", don't spend the money. There is a 0 depth pool and a large playground/sand area that little ones can enjoy but I don't believe its worth the cost to go if you have little ones, especially under 4. Limited shade areas and if you are lucky to get in the shaded areas, be prepared for others to steal your chairs (yes it happened to us...they moved our towels and bags to the ground) or for people to cram themselves in. Locker rental is $9 a day or so and you can rent a tube for $3 or so for 2 hours.
Wave pool is super fun but strong. Get out past 4' and you can relax and let the waves carry you, before that you just get crushed. I wouldn't say its for little ones. Lazy river is nice, but there was quite a wait to get a tube and get in.
We had a Groupon to get it in for 1/2 price. I wouldn't pay full price to hang at this pool. With a 5 year old under 48" and a 7 year old over 48" it was fun, but definitely more for my 7 year old to enjoy.

Took grandkids but it was expensive. My husband came to watch and had to pay. He was in street clothes the whole time. They should allow adults to come watch kids/grandkids and if they aren’t getting in the water, give them a colored wrist band and let them in for free.

What I pay to get my family in, I shouldn't have to deal with disrespectful kids not being supervised by their parents. It's always very busy and at times, the wave pool seems unsafe. Not someplace I will bring my family again.

Now that they have expanded the water park, it is good for kids of all ages. When it was just the wave pool, it is difficult with young children as the wave current gets pretty strong. Now there is a sandcastle area, lazy river, several water chutes, and sprinkler park. Fun place to go!

This could have been an awesome experience as they have some nice water experiences. Unfortunately, they need work on making it a fun day for their guests. We arrived seven minutes after they opened and had to wait forty minutes in line to get our tickets. They only have two ticket lines. No water stations or bathrooms are available outside the facility for those waiting in line; although they let us in to pee when we asked. My daughter was not allowed to bring in the water she had while in line. I saw lots of crying children who could see the water but had to stand in the hot sun waiting. An open tent over the waiting line area would be helpful. They only have four cabanas; and, they were all already rented when got up to the ticket stand. There is very limited shade available which is pretty essential on a hot day. Fortunately, my adult grandchildren were able to score some chairs in some shaded space for us. We were there on a very hot day; and, the concrete walkways heated to the "burn your feet" level pretty quickly. We enjoyed the wave pool; although once an hour they make everyone get out of all the pools to listen to ten minutes of announcements, some of which were important safety information. However, I'm not sure safety is really their focus. The park doesn't let you bring in any food or drinks--not even water. They provide free water from large drinking containers, not running fountains. On a hot day they run dry pretty fast. I had to tell them they were empty at one point; and, it took them a half hour to refill them--not a good thing on a hot day when the wait in the food/drink line was over an hour. And, when you did get up there, half of the selections were sold out. Mostly they had hot dogs and pizza--no cheese pizza though which is what small children usually want. The ice cream line at the second consignment stand was a little shorter but still a half hour wait. We were starving after a few hours so we cut our day short rather than waiting in line. However, friends of our's who were there did stand in line for a full hour and then were unable to get what the children at their birthday party really wanted. We tried waiting about fifteen minutes before giving up. You had to stand on the hot concrete again so shoes are a necessity which is a hassle when you are going in and out of the water. Water shoes might be a good thing to bring. If they put an awning over the concession stand line area it would make the wait more bearable and cut down on burned feet. The lazy river was a fun idea; but, it was wall to wall people on tubes most of the time. Like I said, we were there on an extremely hot day so it was a very busy park. It might be better on a cooler day; but, who wants to go to a waterpark on a cool day? I understand that they have refused admission when they reached whatever they consider "capacity" so check online before you drive out there to make sure you can get in. It's a reasonable price if you are going to stay all day; but, a little high for a few hours. With a few improvements this could become a fun place albeit still very busy on a hot day. I wiouldn't go back.

Bunker Beach. If you purchase a locker can you access it multiple times during the day for a one time fee ? And is it a key that you attach to your swimsuit?
Thank you:)
