Very well maintained, moderate challenge, lovely vistas, 4 sets of tees, much appreciated

For the older golfer (like me), this course has 4 sets of tees, which I really appreciate. 18 holes, sharing a cart was less than $30. Very good deal, lovely course.

Great golf and food!

This course is just challenging enough to test the good golfers, but not enough to discourage the hackers, like me! Great staff - very helpful, and the facilities are well-thought-out and complete. The setting is beautiful, with a nice combination of big trees, water, and hills.

Very friendly, very reasonable rates, nice course for average golfers

This is an excellent course for average golfers (which frankly, means most of us). There are 4 sets of tees, which gives you lots of options. Very nice fairways and greens (which are moderately fast, except when when - as when we played after some heavy rains). There are trees on most holes but you generally can find your ball if you hit in in the trees (as I did more than once).

Course has some moderate hills, but most people walk it. However, carts are available at modest fees. Also, distances from one hole to the next are modest, ie 1-2 minute walk.

18 holes during the week is $30, and on weekends, $32. So a very nice deal compared to many metro area courses.

There are ponds on 8 holes so it really helps to play with someone who knows the course well. The course as of Aug 2016 no longer has a restaurant.

Staff was quite friendly. I liked this course a lot and would recommend it. About 1 hour north of Minneapolis and St. Paul.

We went around in 3.5 hours. The course was NOT crowded on a Friday morning.

SURPRISED

Purchased Tee time with Golf Now Staff was more concerned with the greens keeper then assisting us apparently they dislike people would purchase thru golf now. Played behind a 5 some and it was slow play and as they were regulars they park carts in front of greens numerous times once close that we thought it was on the green. Course has improved its drainage and was in fairly good shape greens were good. Make sure you play when there is no league as the regulars will not acknowledge someone they do not know. Left in frustration as there was no beer cart on the course.

Beautiful Golf Course
Sep 2014 • Friends
Was in a golf tournament 9-20-14 at Purple Hawk golf course in Cambridge ,Mn. The course was in fantastic shape, the fall colors in the tree's made for a beautiful day to enjoy this golf course. The greens are a bit speedy but roll true, beverage deals and a mini cooler to take along is a nice touch. I would like to have a yardage GPS in the carts, but it's not a deal breaker. Course is easy to navigate even for the first timer there. Nice bar( 19th hole) to end the day with.

Not impressed

Went there for Valentines day dinner. NOT a good choice of places to go, Food was just so so, even though it was the SPECIAL. Dirty glasses, sloooow service and they were not all that busy. I have been there before for simple burger dining and that was ok, need to work on the higher end dining experience!

My wife and I played Purple Hawk June 16. The course is about 50 north of Minneapolis on Highway 65. The course has a tradtional layout with no houses located on the course. There is water on (or near) 8 holes but only 1 forced carry (although you can go around that one as well). The sand it the traps is a bit hard and a bit like dirt but still playable. The greens when we played were quite fast and are fairly smooth. There were a few wet spots on the course due to all the rain we have had here this spring. The carts are newer gas powered with no GPS. They have a resturant on-site and the beverage cart came around frequently. We goit our round done is a little over 3 hours.

Purple Hawk is a fun course to play for a fairly reasonable rate. Hit it straight and you will have no issues.
