The lighthouse is beautiful and we enjoyed reading about the history in the museum. It's definitely worth stopping for. My only disappointment was the one volunteer we spoke with when paying admission was not friendly and didn't offer any additional information. Based on other reviews, I feel we missed some good stories.

Small museum but nice. Short video explains things. Fee to go up lighthouse. Car parking at museum only. RV and bus parking a short distance from museum on right before you turn on road to museum. That is because of the narrow road and small parking lot.

I read about this lighthouse and it seemed kind of ordinary. Gee, was I wrong. When I arrived I was told about the "delicious" history and it is juicy. Capt. Robinson helped build the lighthouse and lived there after it was built. He and his wife had 13 children. He was the lightkeeper for life. When his abilities declined he was forced to leave. However, he refused to leave and then he died here. You can sometimes hear his cane tapping on the walls. Many have said he has been seen walking up and down the stairs. Whatever you believe, it seems he was an amazing light house keeper. Saved many lives and ships thru the years. Definitely a hero!

There is also a museum to tour and a nice movie to watch. I also found the story of the oil house interesting (it is a seperate structure). There is a great pier to walk out on. The beach is very beautiful and no one was there. There is also an old ship wreck in the lake. One person was out there looking for treasure. I expected nothing and got something so I was not disappointed!

PS: There is an $8 fee per person. Look for coupons before you go. Either way your money goes to a good cause. This light house is well kept and taken care of. Enjoy!

After spending two nights in Muskegon and before making our way back home, my wife and I came here to check out the lighthouse and the beach. Definitely not the most ideal weather as there was light rain and some wind. We went up to the top as well as checked out the exhibits inside. It’s a little off the beaten path but very worth your time. Nice beach as well!!

Well, let me say it is located in a beautiful area, with incredible views from the tower.
However, I normally would not believe I would say this but I truly believe I had a paranormal experience. My husband and I climbed the tower, he was in front of me, there was no one behind me. Yet I felt a brief touch on my shoulder and suddenly felt an incredible cold breeze. It was a warm day (actually hot)
I inquired if my husband felt the cold air, he said no. As I began to climb higher I became very anxious, cold, and then my feet began to not move. I had no idea what was going on, I literally ran out of the building. I went back in and spoke to the desk clerk, who refused to answer my questions about paranormal activity. I finally asked point blank, "Has anyone died in this bldg." The answer was "Yes"
I have then done some research and yes there supposedly are ghosts, I can honestly say I will never enter that lighthouse again! I visit lighthouses all over the US and yet this was totally a new experience for me.

We went on opening weekend and had a great time. The tour guide was really friendly and had answers to all our questions. My daughter (9 years old) loved making the trip up the spiral stairs to the top of the lighthouse. The view from the top is beautiful. They have a lot of really cool artifacts and photos. We spent a lot of time on the grounds and walked the pier/channel from White Lake to Lake Michigan. Worth the trip if you are in the area. Very inexpensive, $5 for adults and $2 for children.

A great walk down the pier, along the river to Lake Michigan. The view of the lake is magnificent. The light house is beautiful. Admission for the lighthouse is $5.
