Had played the front nine 3 years ago and had a bad experience at the turn where it seemed they let out a couple groups at the 10th. We elected to get half our fees back and call it a day on a nice October Saturday 2018.
Monday 9/20/21 was forecast showers which we had off and on but my wife and buddy and I had what my buddy said” was his best conditions , most enjoyable round of the year” which is saying something.
I have to apologize to Stonegate and say this IS BENT GRASS tees, fairways, and greens. A finer conditioned course we have not played this year in 70 rounds. ( except for maybe Signature Treetops) For $26.99 TeeOff.com it was an $8 savings each off senior Monday rates and a absolute bargain.
After playing the full eighteen this indeed is the best in Muskegon area( if you don’t go head to head with thoroughbred) and had some nice valleys, little or no blind shots, traps in strategic locations but not overly so, and a ditch/ stream and forced carries on the front. The community homes blend in nicely to give it a fine upscale feel. In all honesty Stonegate is better conditioned than Pilgrims Run right now, ( probably a lot less play) Green roll super true, we will definitely be back. Just run a atv/ rake through the traps every day and there wouldn’t be one negative. Definitely a “up north “ feel here in the Manistee National forest.( speaking of Manistee national, playing up there in a couple weeks)must have been a league starting when we left at 4:15

Thanks Stonegate

Ok we played here a lot a year ago and not this year until 9/21/23. A warm 81 degrees nice day and course in great shape. I don’t know what dark green “ painted” fertilizer they use but it works. Looks strange though.
Didn’t see Martie there the pga pro gal. Senior days are $40 but we scored $65 for 2 on TeeOff.
Probably best sand of the year, no gps thank God but the ranger finally came out on th18th at 3:00 and scolded me for being 5 feet off the path. Top 6th friendliest, not by me.

Instead of saying, how was your round he ruined my day.

We golfed the front 9 and wow! What a beautiful golf club....several creeks and marshes to add some difficulty to our day,but we had a great time. The course is kept up very nicely.Ended our day with food from their snack bar and grill which was reasonable and very good!

A small group (3) decided to play the course on a beautiful, sunny day. The layout was fair with generous landing areas for tee shots. We could usually find the odd errant drive. Pro shop staff was courteous and friendly. Can't say the same for grill/bar staff. The course supplies putting and chipping area for warm up and a range.

What mostly surprised me was the lack of any water dispensers on the course. It was an 85 degree day with high humidity and the only water available on the course was an ice chest with bottled water for $1. Really?! Even my local muni has a couple water dispensers on each 9 and they charge far less for a round of golf.

Wife and I play PILGRIMS RUN 90% of the time and bypass FALLS AT BARBER CREEK which is 2 miles from our house. I have been wanting to play Stonegate as it's supposedly best in Muskegon county.
Two guys who golf said bent grass fairways, NOT. Only ended up playing 9 as a foursome wouldn't let us play through( no ranger ) played 10/13/18. No restroom for wife in front 9. Houses all along course. $32 each for 18 which they gave us half back in cash.
Remember Chase Hammond years ago nicer shape. All backed up on back nine so didn't play it. Won't be back, not in same league as Pilgrims.

Beautiful fairways, and immaculate greens! Stonegate's layout, while challenging, was a real treat. The lunch at the clubhouse was a perfect ending to a great 18 holes.

Challenging, scenic and beautifully maintained course nestled among the Manistee National Forest. Fresh air and wildlife are sure to be found. Can't say the same for some of my tee shots...

Enjoyed this course. This course has very wide fairways and playing this course makes you feel good about your game. Again, wide fairways, hard to miss on your drive. Up North feeling with beautiful scenery. Holes are all separate, you do not mostly see the other golfers Greens were in great shape.

The young man brought the cart out to my car and was very nice. Clubhouse was nice.

Fun, enjoyable course. I would love to play there again.
