Kids and I went there to review the place. Loved the scenery and the history of the area. There are a few geocaches in the vicinity

Great place. Enjoyed walking around the buildings and the beach area. Gift shop was small but had some interesting items. My husband collects patches of lighthouses and we were able to purchase one here.

We headed out with the thought of eating at the Jolly Pumpkin (never found it) but had a great time exploring the lighthouse and stopping along the way at a cherry orchard for a few berries. Nice stretch of beach out front of the lighthouse...More

Enjoyed the drive from Traverse City and the views. Do not expect a fully modern State Park with good rest rooms, etc. Take a short walk to the beach and swim in front of the lighthouse or anywhere along the beach. This was the clearest and...More

Gorgeous scenery. Interesting place and great for picture memories. A must see. Go early and take some beach towels to sit for awhile and relax.

Nicely kept Lighthouse, worth the time to drive the peninsula. Beautiful area, and history is done well.

This was a highlight of our Michigan trip. The trip out the peninsula to arrive at the lighthouse was amazing. At some points you could see the lake on both sides. Connoisseurs of wine will undoubtedly stop at some of the wineries along the road....More

Sweet staff showed us the lighthouse and told us the history. Beware the stairs or narrow and steep! Beautiful view!

If the question is why it was closed on a Saturday afternoon, I have no idea. I do understand that it is volunteers who open and close and run the gift shop of the light house so perhaps there we no volunteers at that time... More

We were open 10 to 5pm- I have the gift shop records to prove it. ? Maybe they have this lighthouse confused with Grand Traverse Lighthouse. ?? MP Light Manager
