This is actually for the location on US 31 S, south of Traverse City about 2 miles. We purchased a Yakima rack system from them to handle paddle boards and they installed and educated us on their use. Alan did a great job of getting everything set up on our car and was very thorough in covering all situations we might encounter. If you need a place for outdoor equipment from roof racks to water sports to hiking and camping, this is a great choice.

Needed some camping gear!

Was camping at Interlochen State park and did a day trip to Traverse City. Dropped family off to do some parasailing and I was on a mission to find some ENO hammocks that the kids seen around the campground. Am not familiar with traverse City so mapped out a few stores with no luck. One store told me about Backcountry and couldn't believe they had plenty of hammocks and all the accessories I needed. The sales lady was super helpful in demonstrating the correct way in setting the hammocks up. Needless to say I waited till we got back to camp to spring the surprise I bought for them and was the best 2 nights of camping! I'm including a pic of one the campsites that had 7 hammocks in the trees, was very entertaining watching the kids making their way to the top. Would definitely shop here again if I'm ever back in that area.

We have been hiking for several years and had a hard time finding a store that carried hiking supplies and clothing that was not just for show. The salespeople really seemed knowledgeable about the various clothing and equipment. It was refreshing to find salespeople who understood what you might experience on the trail.

Great outdoors stuff.

If you like the outdoors and you need clothing and supplies this little store is great. They have the latest supplies from go pros to camping to yes, even outdoors fashion. The staff is very helpful too.
