- fabfemale50Grand Rapids, Michigan133 contributionsFirst stop for wine tasting and I'd say so happy we did. beautiful front and back patios to view the bays and vineyards. The tasting was $14 for 3 including tip and there were several gifts and wines to purchase. Definitely will be back !Visited June 2024Traveled with friendsWritten June 22, 2024
- Wanda RGreenfield, Wisconsin751 contributionsThis is our favorite winery because of its beautiful location and outstanding scenery. You have the option to have your wine either inside or outside. Their wine is reasonably priced. It is rather busy on the weekend. We are lucky we found a parking spot. If you are looking for a beautiful wine tasting experience with great wines and fantastic views this is a MUST stop.Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten October 1, 2024
- MichiganMelissa04Michigan856 contributionsThis is one of my husband and my favorite wineries in the Traverse City. Their patio has amazing views of the bay. And the other side of the Inn, and the parking lot, have a view of the other bay. We have especially enjoyed the Wine-paired dinners here. Highly recommend!Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 18, 2024
- ManningAvengerSellersburg, Indiana2,060 contributionsWe enjoyed the drive to the winery, passing the vineyards along the way. The inside of the winery was beautiful, with plenty of things to buy, including wine. Our bartender, who was from Columbia, was friendly and helpful. Drank our flights outside and enjoyed the views of both arms of Grand Traverse Bay. Probably the best winery on the peninsula.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 2, 2024

Chateau Chantal offers excellent Michigan wines in a fantastic setting. It was busy on a Saturday afternoon with visitors lined up outside for tastings. Chatting with an employee, we were taken inside to another area where we purchased the Tastings of 3 two ounce tastings. Prices were $12.50 for the three but dropped to $10 with of the 3 sampling’s. . Tastings were Preserve Chardonnay, Preserve Pinot Noir, Malbec, and Late Harvest Riesling. Each were very good. Their huge outdoor patio is spacious, has some covered and uncovered tables with fantastic views of the vineyards. The Chateau also has accommodations (bed and breakfast). Friends with us had visited previously and said the wine pairing dinner and accommodations are excellent. In the evenings the owner often visits with the overnight guests. They even had a corn hole game - which was fun. Be prepared on weekends in summer it is busy. When we left there were several wine tour buses that had just arrived.

Felt unwelcome and basically made to leave by actually doing the unforgivable - buying 2 bottles of their wine, sitting out back enjoying the day and view and hassled about drinking a couple glasses of wine due to sone alleged law prohibiting this.
Could not fond any law about this and if there is, it’s an INSANE law that should be rescinded and whoever voted for it should be voted out of office.
Makes absolutely no sense.
Might as well close the winery visitation and just sell wine at Meiers since it’s 30% cheaper there anyway.

Absolutely beautiful views from the deck! The tasting was a flight of 3 wines for $12.60. I don't like this style of tasting, but did enjoy being outside and seeing the gorgeous views! They were the best part of this experience. We mostly drink dry, off-dry wines and didn't find anything we cared for enough to purchase.

After visiting several wineries for my husband’s birthday, we believe Chateau Chantal has the best wine hands down. After doing a tasting (very reasonably priced) we bought three bottles of the Reisling. And the White wine is amazing also! Incredible views and very friendly staff make for a very special experience. We will definitely be back!

The place was busy, but not packed. Someone helped us within a couple minutes and took the time to explain the tasting process and rang us up. We took our ticket to the tasting counter where the most friendly and helpful guy explained our choices and poured our flights. He said he has worked there 18 years, but rarely considers it work. He made us feel welcome and, before we left the counter, he explained how to get additional wine as well as where to find the restrooms (yes, I definitely DO always need to know where the restroom is). We took our flights out to the patio even though it was blustery. The views are just gorgeous from there, even on a cloudy, windy, about-to-rain day. The Rieslings were wonderful and the cherry ciders (one bubbly) were a pleasantly tasty treat.

Making advance reservations here was kind of confusing. We had to book and prepay for the equivalent of 4 persons, even though there are only two of us. The extra money would be applied to more wine. I wanted to secure a spot inside just in case the weather was bad, so I followed the instructions and prepaid. Upon arrival, the host told us we could get a refund for the extra cost, and that was easily done. Seating here was actually outside in a covered patio, and that was fine for the weather today. Although the sun is now hiding behind some clouds, it's not too chilly. We sampled two of the wines, which I'd rate as okay. I was happy to see that small dogs were allowed here. The grounds of the estate are beautiful. There is an inn onsite. I'm thinking it's a beautiful spot for an event. There was a table set up with thermometers, but no one was taking temperatures today. The staff is all protected with masks, and so are we. I was surprised to see Chantel Wines in a can. I understand this is the newest trend in wine. I forgot to buy a can on the way out!

We took a winery tour on the Mission Peninsula - this place was definitely beautiful with great views from the outdoor patio. However, after visiting several wineries this day, this place felt less "inviting" than any of the others, and the hostess was borderline rude. You definitely need reservations, or your options will be lawn seating only.

Chateau Chantal is located on a gorgeous piece of property on Old Mission. All of their wines we tried were good but my one complaint is the lack of shade on the patio heated the last wines in our flights which was unpleasant. Due to COVID they are not offering tastings only limited flights and glasses and reservations are required. Overall, I took a few bottles home and I would probably return.

I believe they are ok having dogs on the patio........I didn't see any the day we were there, but I would suspect it's ok but calling to verify would probably be advised.
