Chateau Chantal is located on a gorgeous piece of property on Old Mission. All of their wines we tried were good but my one complaint is the lack of shade on the patio heated the last wines in our flights which was unpleasant. Due to COVID they are not offering tastings only limited flights and glasses and reservations are required. Overall, I took a few bottles home and I would probably return.

The place was busy, but not packed. Someone helped us within a couple minutes and took the time to explain the tasting process and rang us up. We took our ticket to the tasting counter where the most friendly and helpful guy explained our choices and poured our flights. He said he has worked there 18 years, but rarely considers it work. He made us feel welcome and, before we left the counter, he explained how to get additional wine as well as where to find the restrooms (yes, I definitely DO always need to know where the restroom is). We took our flights out to the patio even though it was blustery. The views are just gorgeous from there, even on a cloudy, windy, about-to-rain day. The Rieslings were wonderful and the cherry ciders (one bubbly) were a pleasantly tasty treat.

The wine at Chateau Chantel was pretty good. It was a bit of a bummer that the flights are pre-selected and not the typical wine tasting where you can pick among many. We had a good experience and if the weather permits, I highly recommend outdoor seating.

Absolutely beautiful views from the deck! The tasting was a flight of 3 wines for $12.60. I don't like this style of tasting, but did enjoy being outside and seeing the gorgeous views! They were the best part of this experience. We mostly drink dry, off-dry wines and didn't find anything we cared for enough to purchase.

Felt unwelcome and basically made to leave by actually doing the unforgivable - buying 2 bottles of their wine, sitting out back enjoying the day and view and hassled about drinking a couple glasses of wine due to sone alleged law prohibiting this.
Could not fond any law about this and if there is, it’s an INSANE law that should be rescinded and whoever voted for it should be voted out of office.
Makes absolutely no sense.
Might as well close the winery visitation and just sell wine at Meiers since it’s 30% cheaper there anyway.

After visiting several wineries for my husband’s birthday, we believe Chateau Chantal has the best wine hands down. After doing a tasting (very reasonably priced) we bought three bottles of the Reisling. And the White wine is amazing also! Incredible views and very friendly staff make for a very special experience. We will definitely be back!

We made reservations for the outdoor patio late on Saturday afternoon. The sun was shining and the view of East Bay on this snowy afternoon was the best! There was a firepit and high top barrel tables to make seating pleasant. There were several igloos on the patio which required more advanced reservations. We also walked around the building to see more igloos and a view of West Bay.
While there were extensive tasting choices, our reservation included the choice of a 3 glass flight or a glass of wine. The area is known for whites, but we prefer reds and our selections didn't disappoint. For an easy dry selection we liked the Trio, Proprietor's Reserve and the Naughty Red. Our friends favored the semi-dry Riesling.
The Staff was very courteous and cautious, and followed all of the required protocols.
Recommendation: It's Winter in Northern Michigan. Dress warm for the occasion!

Used our Winter Wine Pass during our wedding anniversary trip. The first winery we purchased wine on the tour. Although the tasting room was under construction we were able to comfortably sit and enjoy our wine. will most definitely return on our next trip!

We came here with another couple. You can purchase a glass of wine or flight of (3) for tasting. ($10 + $2 tip + .60 tax, $12.60) The deck which is huge and offers beautiful views of Traverse bay. They also offer snacks for purchase and there is also a bed and breakfast.

We were on the Old Mission Peninsula and made a last minute stop at this winery-and I'm glad we did. They offered wine tasting that you could pick yourself. The estate was on of the most beautiful I have seen on top of the hill, overlooking a lake. Our server was very knowledgeable and able to point us in the right direction for dry vs sweet wines. They had several wines that were very good and reasonably priced. They also had an inviting patio to sit on and enjoy the wine.
