We came up from Florida to visit friends and had booked a full day trip with Traverse City Bass. This was our first trip to Michigan and my first trophy smallmouth bass fishing. Now I’ve fished with some great guides from Panama, to Key West to Lake Toho, but none have compared to this trip. This was by far the most enjoyable. Captain Ben was passionate, professional, and patient. We caught fish all day long using a variety of techniques and baits. He quickly had us landing smallmouth one after another. If you want to learn about bass behavior, seasonal patterns, and the right equipment to use, I strongly recommend a trip with Captain Ben. Definitely Five Stars. Speaking of equipment, the tackle, the baits, and gear were all high-end which made for a hassle-free day and added to the joy of fighting big fish. Heck, even his camera and the pictures were top-of the-line!
In my mind, Captain Ben Wolfe and his Guide Service are the epitome of “Pure Michigan”. Thanks again Captain-- already looking forward to our next trip!

I fished with Captain Ben last year for the first time and had an awesome time. I've worked with other guides and charters over the years Ben's the best of the bunch...period. He knows the water and works to get you on the fish. He does it right. (As an added benefit, he makes a really good cup of coffee.) I've got another trip planned for June and I am absolutely looking forward to it. Fish on!

We had a wonderful experience bass fishing with Captain Ben on Traverse City’s East Bay. It was a great time for family bonding with my teenage children, plus Captain Ben baited all my daughters hooks and released the multitudes of small mouth bass she caught so I could actually spend time catching fish myself for once! As a guide he was very knowledgeable and led us to some huge monster fish. One really neat part was being allowed to test out some new custom baits that Ben made the night before. I guess he knew what he was doing because the bass really liked to hit on them. All in all, it was a great experience I would suggest it to anyone desiring to catch some really big fish and have a good time. I would highly recommend Traverse City Bass as a friendly, knowledgeable, experienced and fun guide service.

And yes, that is what she asked for...for her 16th Birthday last year, Natalie really wanted to go fishing and that we did! Captain Ben knows where to go and when. He's so well versed with the lakes and streams in Michigan that all you need to do is show up with a great attitude and he will make sure you catch fish. He's a great teacher and patient with those of us that aren't nearly as good as he is. It even rained the day we fished, and was cold...not his fault...but we were having so much fun we really didn't think about it much. We can not wait to go again. Hopefully for some Bass fishing in the Traverse bay. I would plan ahead though...this guy is busy!

Spent a full day with Capt. Ben, he greeted us with coffee and spoke about what the day would be like. In no time we were on the water at Platte Lake and in no time we had our first small mouth in the boat. Capt. Ben had all of the gear ready for us, he instructed on how to use each lure and also how to retrieve. Capt. Ben is a very easy person to talk to and also had snacks and drinks on the boat. He took care of everything from tying on new lures to unhooking the fish and there were lots to unhook! Will do another trip with him in the future.

My brother and I had a great time catching smallmouth bass with Ben! This guy really knows his stuff! He knows the waters and techniques to put you on fish and to catch them. His equipment is excellent and easy to use and I am looking forward to being on the water with him again soon. Ben is also a great host who is friendly and courteous.

I have fished with Capt. Ben many times over the last few years and always had a great time.Last year I had the pleasure of bringing my brother up to fish with Capt. Ben and we have been looking forward to returning ever since. Capt. Ben stays current on the newest techniques used by the pro's and his knowledge of local waters is second to none.

I’ve been fishing with Captain Ben for a couple of years now. Every time we get out on the water, it’s tons of fun with lots of laughter. I feel that Captain Ben really knows his fishery well. He’s always managed to put me on fish. He even got my girlfriend to fish! I always learn a lot, and am anxious to fish with him again this coming year.
