Grand Traverse Distillery is Michigan's oldest craft distillery and we are family owned. We use 100% locally grown corn, wheat and rye to distill our award winning spirits which include the True North Vodkas [Rye, Wheat, Cherry, Chocolate & soon Chipotle], Gin, Rum and our Whiskies [Ole George 100% Rye, Bourbon, as well as many small batch specialty ones]. We offer 100 Proof Michigan White Dog Whiskey that is sold with mini barrels so a customer can come in make a purchase and age the whiskey at home in their own barrel. We have 5 Tasting Rooms located throughout the state in Traverse City, Frankenmuth, Leland and Grand Rapids so you can stop by and have the Grand Traverse Distillery experience and enjoy tastings and cocktails. We also have joint Tasting Rooms with Black Star Farms Winery where you will find both of our products and be able to taste and have a cocktail. Our Main Distillery Tasting Room is open Monday through Saturday 11-a.m. to 5:30-p.m and is closed Sundays. We offer tours 6 days a week at 1:00 pm & 3:00 pm from May 1 through August 31. Stopped in their store in frankenmuth. Sample comes in a thimble. So not much but from that we could get the great flavor. Bought the cherry whiskey the double barrel and a chocolate vodka. Significantly over price but will be nice to add to our collection.

Hello Thanks for visiting our tasting room in Frankenmuth. As a spirits tasting room we are limited by state law to a total of 1 oz of spirits. Wish it were a little higher but that is what we are working with at this time. I hope you enjoy your purchases. We are a grain to bottle distillery so cost... More

We walked in just to look around. We saw the Bloody Mary mix and asked if they had tastes of the bloody Mary's. They did not...but we could order a Bloody Mary. So we did. I had one with the rye vodka and my husband tried the chipotle vodka. Both were amazing. His was pretty spicy but good. The staff... More

Hello Tracie Thanks for taking time to write in and your comments about our staff. We love the Bloody Mary with our rye vodka and now have a chipotle infused to add some heat into the cocktail. Our staff are locals to the TC area and can help with many questions Come back again Cheers Kent More

Kyle did such a great job on our tour. Very educational. The Cherry Vodka was a big hit with our group, but so was the whiskey, scotch, and Gin!!

Having never been to a distillery tasting before we made it a point to show up for the tour and tasting only to discover that the distillery was closed (it was a Sunday). So we decided to check out the Village and what do we find but an opportunity to taste the distillery products at a joint venture with Black... More

Hello James Sorry we were closed at the production facility Sunday. We decided to close it down in the winter slow season but tastings can still be had at the location you found and downtown in Traverse on Front Street. The staff in the Village do a great job and I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the visit Cheers Kent More

Surprisingly small distillery for the nice variety of products they produce. Very personable staff, never felt rushed. Purchased a Cherry Vodka, a nice treat. Booked our visit online.

Hello Thanks for coming into the distillery. Sounds like you booked the tour and tasting. We are small but working at full capacity at this time. Our goal is to put up 250 53gallon barrels of whiskey in 2015. Close to the goal at this time while keeping the other products in stock. Cheers and come see up again! Kent More

Great Bloody Mary with Chipotle Vodka! Well done. Get 3 tastes, a tour and keep your taste glass. Good vodka and whiskey options.

This is kind of hard to find. It's in an industrial park and very easy to just pass by. We did the 30-minute tour, for $10/person. It included the history of the distillery and the process of making the whiskey, a tasting glass, and three samples of their whiskys, vodka, or rum. It was interesting to hear the history behind... Hello We are hard to find but worth the effort I believe. When GTD was created we had to sell 100% of our spirits to distributors. There was no tasting room. A couple years after we were up and running laws changed and we were able to open the tasting room. If I had known this was in the works... More

We stopped in the Distillery's Traverse City Front Street Tasting Room. Or rather, our guys stopped in first and then we joined them after shopping. So we had guys and girls alike, and all enjoyed our experience. Our guide was Jim and he was patient with the ladies' questions and very knowledgeable about the products. We even reused the cute...
