Primo walking and exercising and festival gathering spot. During cherry fest and most of the summertime don't miss the sweetwater garden club's featured display near the corner of union street. Nearest public restrooms over at clinch park beach or across union street at the visitor's...More

Clinch Park is a wonderful area to relax and enjoy all the Grand Traverse Bay has to offer. Great play area for kids including a water feature. We enjoyed walking out on the docks and piers to see the boats and wildlife.

Metered parking. Sidewalks. Next to the Marina. Didn't go to the beach portion. Clean. Perfect spot to watch the sun go down.

This would be a great spot in the summer but we came in early September so it was too cold to enjoy. The view is nice so we walked along the water for a little.

It's a very short walk from downtown TC. The beach is clean, the water is blue but peak season is crowded, nice sandy beach you don't need water shoes.

My son asked my daughter (soon to be in-law) to get married here. Is there anything better? A beautiful setting!

This is a fantastic park for many reasons. You can metered park right on the water near the park, so super easy access. The water park fountains for the kids are phenomenal. The public restroom there is fantastic. There are boat docks there, so interesting...More

We only rode our bikes through. The park was very clean and beautifully landscaped. There were a ton of people swimming and playing. Looked like a lot of fun.

This is a great beach in downtown Traverse City. Large restrooms, changing rooms, concession stand for food, paddle board and kayak rental. It has it all. A bit of a walk from the parking lot to the beach, so plan accordingly. Pretty good sized area...More

Beach during cherry festival (1 Reply)
We are planning to go beach by Open space/Clinch park on Friday July 6 to relax and swim. How crowding will it be at the beach on that day and what are your advice about going to that beach?

It will be crowded. If you have a car, you can get out of town and find far quieter beaches if you're worried about crowds. Anything along the Leelanau Peninsula should be scenic and far less crowded. If you are in town and this is your beach, it's quite nice. Enjoy it! You'll be able to find a space, especially if you go in the morning or the early evening. Midday it will be quite crowded but it's still a nice spot to swim and read a book.

Traverse City Road Trip (2 Replies)
First of all, I would like to thank 13Ezra for the Days Inn tip. We did stay there for 2 nights with a continental breakfast daily. I would also like to thank all the other posters on the forum for the Traverse City advice. Day 1 We checked into Days Inn and asked for a suggestion for dinner. The front desk suggested North Peak Brewing Company. First we browsed the shops and found the Cherry Republic with all their delicious samples. Then found our way to the North Peak Brewing Company –...More

Mombear, so glad you enjoyed Amelia Island and thank you for sharing your experience with us. I remember when you were planning your trip I responded to some of your post and it is so nice when someone takes the time to let us know how it went. Next time you visit Florida try the other coast, Anna Maria Island is just beautiful and has that "Old Florida Charm".
