About
Estate Wines. Italian Grapes. Old Mission Peninsula AVA. Mari Vineyards’ founder Marty Lagina made the bold choice to produce world class 100% estate wines using an unprecedented selection of grapes never before grown on Old Mission Peninsula. In homage to his Italian grandmother and namesake for the winery, Teresa Mari, Marty planted unorthodox European varieties such as Nebbiolo and Sangiovese alongside classically grown appellation varieties like Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Riesling. Our proprietary Nella Serra hoop house system combined with creative winemaking techniques have made the Lagina family’s dream a reality. Our menu is continuously evolving to feature the best wines from the northwest frontier of the Great Lakes region. Before you visit, we invite you to explore our website and learn more about our wines, villa, and the unique experiences we offer.

We stopped here on our winter tour and they were out of a lot of their wine which was very disappointing. The location was really nice and the service was awesome but we were very disappointed with the wine.

I expected a better, classier, and refined experience than what I received. Maybe because of the hype I have heard of the place. It really wasn't any better than the other wineries and in some ways worse. Tastings on the patio are more expensive than others. You don't get to choose where to sit. Service was fine but a little laid back in appearance. If you are interested in learning more about the wines you will need to book the tastings inside and not sit outside. But who wants to sit inside on a nice August day?

Snotty! If you don't have a reservation, don't bother. Even if the tasting room is empty, which it was both times we were there, they will turn you away. We asked to get a glass of wine and sit outside on the empty patio, we said we would be 10 minutes, they could of made a quick $50 but they again refused.

View was great, wine tasting just OK. we were at the mezzanine level and while it was interesting to see the production facility we were the only ones there. There were several people outside and we did see some people turned away without reservations. Wine was explained well by the server but we thought the wine was average.

We had a tasting reservation which I made online a week prior to visiting. When we arrived early, they were not ready for us yet. There were no areas to sit since they were on a wait and also no areas to explore since areas were locked or roped off. When they did seat us at the tasting bar, we were pretty much ignored. A group of four “walk ins” were given much more time and attention than us. They even had wines poured before us. We had arrived first and had a reservation! I can’t even speak of the wines since I was so disgusted by the way I was treated.

My wife and I had wine tasting at Mari after visiting Brys. The latter is the superior of the two wineries. Mari offers an extraordinary view, but its wines are average at best. The staff at Brys are dressed and act far more professional than the 'relaxed' presentation of Mari. While $18 is very affordable for my wife and I, Mari's wine tasting was the most expensive one we have had in the Traverse City area. My wife and I are both Sattui wine club members in Napa Valley - there is a certain 'machismo' factor in most Italian-owned wineries that brings with it a somewhat pretentious higher price. I adore my castle wines, so the overall Mari experience was consistent with that of a Napa Valley Italian winery (albeit the quality of wine in Napa Valley is far superior). My brother in law wanted us to stop by this establishment due it's linkage to the show 'The Curse of Oak Island' - if the show is consistent with the winery, it's likely unremarkable.

My sister and I started our visit with a tasting. Reservations were required ahead of time (Covid) but walk ins seemsed to be welcome if space allowed. After our tasting, we enjoyed a glass of our favorite along with a delightful charcuterie board on the patio. The view from the patio is second to none!

The views of the bay from the terrace we’re gorgeous, but the wine wasn’t great. Stop by for a glass tops and save your drinking for another winery on Old Mission.

What a gorgeous property! The wines were wonderful and the view is amazing! Jody did our wine tasting and was great! Relax outside with a glass of wine after your tasting. I can’t wait to go back!

This is an excellent winery on the east side of the Mission Peninsula offering scenic views of vineyards and Grand Traverse Bay. On a very busy Saturday, it was crowded and there was a wait list to be seated. Outside seating only offered wines by the glass and inside was wine tasting. We opted for outside and luckily had a table with umbrella on this warm sunshine day. Other outside seating were couches and chairs or picnic tables. Sitting outside we enjoyed their Chardonnay, Late Harvest Riesling and Roso Red wine. It was relaxing looking out over vineyards and the Bay even with the crowds. Inside in the Tasting Room is a magnificent mural done in wine corks.
