About
Estate Wines. Italian Grapes. Old Mission Peninsula AVA. Mari Vineyards’ founder Marty Lagina made the bold choice to produce world class 100% estate wines using an unprecedented selection of grapes never before grown on Old Mission Peninsula. In homage to his Italian grandmother and namesake for the winery, Teresa Mari, Marty planted unorthodox European varieties such as Nebbiolo and Sangiovese alongside classically grown appellation varieties like Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Riesling. Our proprietary Nella Serra hoop house system combined with creative winemaking techniques have made the Lagina family’s dream a reality. Our first vineyard was planted within a mile of our winery over a hot and frantic weekend in 1999, resulting in our flagship wine, Row 7. This blend became our first official production in 2006, and has been our most popular wine ever since. Before you visit, we invite you to explore our website to learn more about our wines, villa, and unique experiences.

    Excellent ambiance
This was a beautiful winery and a wonderful eating and tasting experience! We ordered the tasting flights and a hummus & pita points charcuterie board and the meat and cheese charcuterie board for the 3 of us. It made a relaxing and enjoyable light lunch! The wines were fairly expensive but the experience was definitely worth the stop!

    Highlight of our Michigan vacation
We had the most enjoyable private tour on July 20. As huge fans of Oak Island, the tour was on the top of the list of where to go in Michigan. The property is so beautiful and intelligently done. And to top it off, we were able to taste all 19 of the current variatles. So wonderful and memorable.

    Exceeded already high expectations!
I already knew that the wine was superb, but the building itself is fantastic. The last time we were in Traverse City (in 2020), we were not able to go in to the building itself, or to take a tour. If you at all have time, I highly encourage you to take the tour of the Winery, it was more than worth it! (The new ciders are yummy too!)

Must-do on any trip to Traverse City!
Loved this place! Had the best time. Did the tour with Catherine. She was a great guide and extremely knowledgeable. Learned lots of new things. Wines are great, and we bought quite a few to bring home. Mari Vineyards is a must-do on any trip to Traverse City!

    Great experience!
We had a wonderful experience today. First time visitors. My husband and I have 3 golden rescues. They sat us in the shade on the patio ; bringing plenty of water for our dogs. Everyone was so nice and accommodating. The charcuterie board and brie platter were delicious. We also enjoyed the red and white flights. Thank you for a great time, MV!

Beautiful grounds and great wine make this a must stop for wino's
This is one of the most beautiful wineries we stopped at during our tour of Northern Michigan wineries. And the Bel Tramonto wine was like visiting Italy. Sitting outside with our tasting was relaxing and grand. There are no real wine experts helping you through your tasting as it is more of an individual adventure. But outside looking at the water, who needs anyone's help!

    Fantastic Vineyard / tasting room
We were visiting TC for a couple days in early January and wanted to stop at a few vineyards. This was definitely one of our favourites. Atmosphere was fantastic. Live music, beautiful views, roaring fire, and excellent service (thank you, Jill). Wine was exceptional, and the food was great (they have a 1/2 off special after 4 that is really a bargain). Will definitely be back.

Beautiful winery with a goergeous view from the seating area where you can enjoy your wine. Mostly dry wines but still worth going to even if you are a sweet wine drinker. Patio overlooking the water is beasutiful. Well worht the trip

    Excellent Experience
We've visited Mari before but decided to do the building and wine tour (including the cave) this time. We visited on 14 March and Stacy was our guide. This was fantastic. The facility is beautiful, the wine is wonderful and the charcuterie was delicious. Also, Stacy is one of the best tour guides we've ever had (anywhere). I highly recommend this experience! We also returned later that day for a delicious lunch - meatball skillet!

My wife and I tried lots of vineyards on our trip to Traverse City. All of them were good, only one was great. Mari Vineyards has excellent wine and excellent staff. We did a wine tasting which was 10 dollars (you get to keep your glass). The guy helping us was very knowledgeable about the wines and the wine industry in Michigan. It was a fascinating experience.

Afterwards we got glasses of wine and went outside to enjoy the beautiful views. Really had a great time.

I HIGHLY recommend a glass of Row 7. The finest red blend I have ever had.

I expected a better, classier, and refined experience than what I received. Maybe because of the hype I have heard of the place. It really wasn't any better than the other wineries and in some ways worse. Tastings on the patio are more expensive than others. You don't get to choose where to sit. Service was fine but a little laid back in appearance. If you are interested in learning more about the wines you will need to book the tastings inside and not sit outside. But who wants to sit inside on a nice August day?

My wife and I had wine tasting at Mari after visiting Brys. The latter is the superior of the two wineries. Mari offers an extraordinary view, but its wines are average at best. The staff at Brys are dressed and act far more professional than the 'relaxed' presentation of Mari. While $18 is very affordable for my wife and I, Mari's wine tasting was the most expensive one we have had in the Traverse City area. My wife and I are both Sattui wine club members in Napa Valley - there is a certain 'machismo' factor in most Italian-owned wineries that brings with it a somewhat pretentious higher price. I adore my castle wines, so the overall Mari experience was consistent with that of a Napa Valley Italian winery (albeit the quality of wine in Napa Valley is far superior). My brother in law wanted us to stop by this establishment due it's linkage to the show 'The Curse of Oak Island' - if the show is consistent with the winery, it's likely unremarkable.

We couldn’t get reservations so we brought a blanket and sat on the grass. Lots of space and very beautiful. Due to Covid, we had to purchase glasses and we had whites between Pinot Grigio to late harvest Rieslings. They were good- the bottles inside were a little more expensive than others but we still purchased because we liked them! Service was great but line was long at times but can’t hold that against them due to the rules they are operating under due to Covid. Everyone we interacted with was amazing and we will be going back!

We visited Mari Vineyards as part of a Traverse Bay wine tour. The property is absolutely beautiful. The wines...we each tried their red flight...not that great. However, we’re not accustomed to Michigan wines so it just may be the best they can do for their area. In hindsight, probably should have went with their whites. We sat overlooking a sloping hill which provided a wonderful view of the water. The real negative beyond so-so wine was a bee problem. Several were swarming our table...one even dove into one of our wine glasses. Pretty annoying, but the view saved the day.

This place was our favorite vineyard in all of TC! We made a reservation, the person that helped us was so incredibly nice and informative! We had Luke as our server. We each had a flight and ordered the “adult lunch-able” (charcuterie expect everything was individually packaged).

We had 50 minutes allocated for our reservation and the view was dynamite! We tend to love red wines and our favorite was the Ultima Thule! We also loved the Propserpina, Cab Franc, Troglodyte Rosato.

We can’t recommend this place enough! Also, please make a reservation. Once tours resume, we will be back and hopefully experience one. The building itself is incredible! I could live here lol. I actually had to think that for some, this is real life. I’m totally envious! Great job, Mari! Keep doing what you’re doing!

Excellent customer service. Amazing views. I would most definitely go back because of these two items. I love wine and I am kind of a snob regarding it. So not sure I would recommend buying a case but one glass was doable. We have two little kids so this was a great "wine" down for us as we could be outside and take in the amazing views of the lake.

We had a tasting reservation which I made online a week prior to visiting. When we arrived early, they were not ready for us yet. There were no areas to sit since they were on a wait and also no areas to explore since areas were locked or roped off. When they did seat us at the tasting bar, we were pretty much ignored. A group of four “walk ins” were given much more time and attention than us. They even had wines poured before us. We had arrived first and had a reservation! I can’t even speak of the wines since I was so disgusted by the way I was treated.

Snotty! If you don't have a reservation, don't bother. Even if the tasting room is empty, which it was both times we were there, they will turn you away. We asked to get a glass of wine and sit outside on the empty patio, we said we would be 10 minutes, they could of made a quick $50 but they again refused.

Honestly, this was a place to visit on our list because of being Curse of Oak Island fans. It turns out they make a great wine as well. The grounds are very nice the building is like a little Italian villa. The tasting room was closed due to COVID but we got to get a glass and sit on the lawn. The building is on top of a hill and you get an amazing view of the bay. The wine was good but pricey. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the place is immaculate. I will go back for sure.
