Due to inadequate air conditioning in the room, we had to sleep with the windows open. We had people talking l oudly outside the window at 1:00 am. When we made management aware, the seemed unwiiling to address the ongoing situation

We spent only one night in Traverse City on Grand Traverse Bay. After arriving, I knew we made a mistake in our planning. I didn’t anticipate loving the bay and the city so much. It is gorgeous and has the perfect balance of beach life and city amenities. The bay was clean and clear with families of ducks swimming around. I would have loved to paddle board or kayak the bay. I rarely want to return to places for a second visit, but I will return to Grand Traverse Bay on a future vacation.

We spent several hours driving around the bay.
There were some beautiful homes on one side, and even more beautiful views of the bay and surrounding area on the other.
A truly pleasurable way to spend an afternoon.

Grand Traverse Bay is divided by Old Mission Peninsula, a delightful 20+ mile long jut of land that divides this bay into a west arm and east arm. Traverse City, cherry capital of the world and a foodie paradise, begins on East Bay with the downtown nestled along West Bay. The water lover can rent nearly any kind of boat or skidoo, go parasailing, or swim from a public or private beach in the clear, shark-free waters! One will find picnic tables and grills and play areas for children as one drives along the bay and up M22. The drive features the gorgeous colors of Lake Michigan and highlights the visual beauty of this region. Numerous hotels and condo rental resorts abound along the bay.

Grand Traverse Bay is, geographically speaking, a huge area. It makes for wonderful sunrises and sunsets, safe boating, and a more moderate climate.

To call it a "thing to do" can be mildly misleading. It is hard to avoid. Much of the main highways in the area (M-22, M-37, US-31) are along its shores. Grand Traverse Bay is wonderful, don't get me wrong, it just makes more sense to think in terms of more specific locations than the 100+ miles of shoreline that border the bay or the 200+ square miles of water. Try Clinch Park, Bryant Park, Haserot Beach, Old Mission Lighthouse, Suttons Bay, Elk Rapids etc. when looking for diversions.

We traveled to Torch Lake. It's a pretty lake, but access is not the greatest. The water is so clear that when it is calm, you can see all the way to the bottom. We also went to Traverse City (a pretty town), Sleeping Bear Dunes (awe-inspiring), Manistee (another pretty town), Muskegon (so-so), & Holland (has a great walking area). The waters of Lake Michigan are as blue as the ocean -- absolutely breathtaking. To think that Michigan is our neighboring state (Ohio) and we have overlooked it all of these years. We will be visiting it more often, for sure.

Grand Traverse Bay is a beautiful area. There are many hotels, resorts and cottages here. Water can be a beautiful blue on clear days, resembling the Carribean. Beaches are very nice and clean. Driving around the bay is a very scenic drive.

Visited with a group of friends and took a long bike ride along both sides of Old Mission Peninsula. The rolling terrain, vineyards and orchards, and beautiful shorelines make this a great location to visit, especially for a cyclist. Took the ride in the evening and timed it perfectly, to watch the sunset on the west side of the bay.
