Great Monument to visit

Beautiful place to view the Ausable River and take pics. Great place to learn about how the lumber industry was many many years ago.

beautiful view, easy hiking.

Beautiful view of the AuSable River. An easy hiking trail taken from the monument will give you even more views. We visited in late October and had the trail to ourselves.

A unique look into a major part of Michigan's past
Oct 2020
A really interesting park to visit. It has quite a tale to tell about the lumber industry in the state. There are a lot of interactive elements to the park, plus a dynamite overlook on the AuSable River. A little off the beaten path, but if you go later in the year, like we did, you miss the crowds and can spend time there.

Remembering the heroes
Jul 2018 • Couples
I found this memorial, near the trains.

There was a big rock. On the rock I saw the following: In loving William D. (Bill) Fouste.

Another writing: Dedicated to the pioneer logger and lumberman of the Pacific Northwest. I honored these loggers

It was worthwhile to see this.

Must see if in the area

This park has steadily improved over the years If anyone is interested in the history and life experiences of the loggers you must stop here. We first visited lumber’s monument in 1967. We still enjoy visiting the site both for the natural beauty of the site and the informative displays and videos. For the young and athletic you can take the stairs down to the river. It is cool and beautiful even on the hottest of Summer days. They also have nice restrooms and a small gift shop.

Beautiful

The mighty Ausable river offers many spectacular scenic overlooks and Lumbermans Monument in Iosco County is one of the best. Take a drive along River Rd from M65 to the West and Oscoda to the East and enjoy Iargo Springs, Conquers Monument and Lumbers Monumets. All beautifl.

Great Place to Explore and Learn Local History

One of our favorite local attractions. Beautiful vistas. For the more adventurous, climb down to the lake via stairway, or take a run down the nearby dunes.

Always A Joy
Aug 2018 • Family
I have been coming here since I was a boy and now I'm in my early 50's. I've seen a lot of additions here like the steps going down to the water and wheelchair accessible paths. It's neat to see the videos explaining life back in the day. The views of the Au Sable are gorgeous especially in the Fall. Eagles are around the area as well. The highbanks were always a blast to leap down with a great splash in the river. Getting back up, not quite as fun. It's a wonderful place to spend a day

Absolutely gorgeous views of the mighty Ausable River. Nifty lumbering and insect critter display and a walk down the steps will reveal a lumbermans “general store”. The kids working in the little shop are friendly and fun and you can even saw a piece of a log!! Go. The whole road has fun things to see and it’s beautiful in the fall as well
